Trump goes bananas over Dem message to military re: illegal orders

He should have been charged with inciting a riot and attempted insurrection for Jan 6. Instead, he gets elected again and pardons everyone that was charged for it, including those that assaulted police officers. Now he is talking about this being an insurrection and hanging members of Congress. Just a completely horrible President and even worse person.

this is pretty damn clever from the dems.

how can you be this furious about a reminder to the troops to follow the law and their oaths of service unless you don't want them to do those things?

there's no good way for the right to spin this.

How many dems tweeted the original video? Was it just Slotkin? Interesting if so… she’s former CIA.

I joined the Army a couple of years after the My Lai Massacre. At that time, the training I received was very specific on my obligation to refuse to follow illegal orders. My recollection was that this training did not attempt to draw fine lines between legal and illegal orders. But instead, IIRC, the training pretty much suggested it was a "you will know it when you see it" and "it's common sense" type standard. While Nazi war crimes were not a prominent part of the training, they were mentioned as part of the discussion that "I was only following orders" was not a defense.

For example, pilots fire-bombing cities in Germany and Japan were not considered war criminals. Shooting prisoners who were neither resisting nor attempting to escape was considered a war crime. This may seem to be distinction without a difference, but those bomber pilots did not select their targets and were entitled to rely of the work of others as to where to bomb. Shooting prisoners who were not attempting to escape was a personal decision that the shooter made based on facts that he had first-hand knowledge of.

I agree with you, but I will wait to get ram's opinion before deciding whether there is no good way for the right to spin this.
