How many millions have we spent of border Kabuki? Where is the outrage from resident peddlers of “are you claiming there’s no fraud and inefficiency in the government?!”?

This morning I see MSNBC is moving Symone Sanders and Michael Steele’s show from weekend mornings to 6 pm weekdays (in place of Joy Reid’s show).

I’m a fan of the show, but personally like it on weekend mornings, rather than the 7 pm hour on weekdays. Oh well, it’s a promotion for them.

I have known folks that are on some combo of "govt benefits" that do not work
That continue to exist because of those benefits
I guess we are "culling the herd"????

Update.

May have already been posted, but I'm not up to date on this thread

CDC's "disease detectives" apparently spared in DOGE cuts at health agencies

So everything is fine now that they went back and reversed their decision? How long before these workers get tired of being dehumanized and used as pawns and say fuck you? But keep on posting, as doge has to go back and fix things they are breaking, and pretend that it is okay and things are working as they should. This entire process is instilling fear and distrust in the workforce. It’s counterproductive to their stated goals, but very productive towards their unstated objectives. They really do want to traumatize the workforce. The problem is that if their experiment fails and the best and brightest that were called to public service and the entire research and development apparatus that contributes to our country’s success is cast aside in such a reckless manner it will already be too late.

This. And it boggles my mind the house Pubs here can’t see it.
They can. maga=gop=gqp. Conspiracy theory and authoritarianism, in service to insecurity, has completely deplatformed “reasonable” conservatism. Sure, there’s a one off here and there, but those folks days in the gqp are numbered.

I'm just relaying information. I'm not claiming to predict the future or read anyone's mind.

- Publicly lied

- Sided with murderous despot while attempting to extort an ally

- Played golf while slandering the work ethic of federal employees

- Publicly lied again

- Disregarded the rule of law and consolidated power

- Played golf some more

- Continued to embarass America on the global stage

- Publicly lied some more

- Advocated for the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people

- More golf and lies

"They didn't do it perfectly," he says, but for employees who were overseeing critical functions, "they seem to be hiring them back."

“Seem to” is a low bar but he tends to be level-headed / reasonable.

Trump Weighs Tariffs to Counteract Foreign Taxes on Tech Firms

Executive memo signed Friday takes aim at a major technology industry concern

“… The memo directs the U.S. Trade Representative’s office to renew tariff investigations started during Trump’s first term on countries that impose digital services taxes, according to a fact sheet provided by the administration. Those countries include certain European Union member nations, as well as Canada, India and others.

Penalizing countries that tax U.S. tech firms would address a longstanding irritant for Silicon Valley, which has been targeted by a number of nations levy digital services taxes and antitrust investigations in recent years.

In 2019, Trump’s USTR initiated tariff probes into digital taxes in France, Italy, Spain, India and other nations, finding them to be discriminatory toward U.S. firms. But the Biden administration didn’t act on the matter, sparking broad outcry from the tech industry and Republicans on Capitol Hill.

With Trump back in office, the prospect of action has grown more likely. Trump has used hardball tactics to counter digital services taxes before, like when he threatened to impose tariffs on French wines and champagnes if Paris didn’t pull back on its tax. President Emmanuel Macron relented at the time, but France has since instated a digital services tax that could be targeted by Trump once again. ….”

Hey people, take a look at this. Why is Trump trying to create some bullshit disease justification? Because the law doesn't permit him to just close the border.

So everyone critical of Biden on this issue: it's like I said all along. It takes time to craft policy. You can't just sign a paper and make it happen -- unless you are willing to go with patently obvious chicanery like "the Mexicans are bringing in tuberculosis." Good for Biden for not lying disgracefully.
