I think they're likely going a step further, and planning for a world order with the US as an overt enemy. That's not to say it'll happen, but the US can't be looked at as a good actor anymore, and the contingencies are undoubtedly afoot.
Agreed. It’s sickening to even consider the possibility of a world where we are lumped in with the axis of evil that includes Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, etc. but we are perilously closer to it than we’ve ever been.

I'm with you 100% on the importance of immigrants in our country for 100% of the reasons you stated.

To answer your initial question, I'll answer how I personally would define border security. To me, border security is investing in more personnel and more technology (AI, biometrics/facial recognition, transportable surveillance towers, cameras, radar/sensors, etc.) at the southern border. But just as important, ans perhaps more so, it's investing in more immigration system personnel (processing personnel, judges, etc.) to make our system of legal immigration quicker, more efficient, and more humane.

Anyone who thinks we can "close" the southern border or who thinks that 100% of illegal border crossings can be stopped, is delusional. But I do think that there are technological means to beef up border security in a way that isn't performative political theater.
Is it impossible because of the size of the border? Do other nations with similar borders have the same issue?

This is so absurd. A real, proper audit could have been a real benefit. This is a farce.

Its theater for idiots/morons, you know memebers of the cult.

Gave the thumbs down. Not because I disagree with you, but because this is where we're at.

Hegseth's Ukraine bombshell and Trump's Putin call leave NATO reeling

“… State of play: Hegseth, who is attending his first meeting of NATO's defense ministers, made clear Wednesday that the following chips will now be "off the table" in peace talks, as a senior U.S. defense official stressed to Axios.

  1. NATO membership for Ukraine — a central source of tension with Russia promised by the alliance in 2008 — is not a "realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement," Hegseth said.
  2. U.S. troops will not be deployed to Ukraine to enforce postwar security guarantees.
  3. Any European peacekeepers sent to Ukraine should be deployed as part of a "non-NATO mission," meaning Article 5 — the alliance's bedrock principle of collective defense — should not protect them.

  • In the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump demurred when asked whether Ukraine was "an equal member" of the peace process: "I think they have to make peace," he said after a pause. "That was not a good war to go into."
Friction point: Most NATO allies vehemently reject the idea that Ukraine chose war with Russia, and have argued for years that peace talks should happen at a time and place of Ukraine's choosing.

The intrigue: The European Union's top diplomat Kaja Kallas, who is attending Thursday's meetings along with Ukrainian defense minister Rustem Umerov, said the EU would continue supporting Ukraine if Kyiv refused to accept Trump's conditions….”
NATO really needs to cut the US loose. They have the military strength to do it.

If we won’t step up to defend NATO that will give others an excuse to not do so. They need an alliance of reliable partners.

And as others have pointed out, we are an intelligence threat to NATO.

I meant a non Musk third party. Look, I don't own a Tesla nor do I own any stock in the company. If the Cybertruck is not suitable for the army then cancel the contract.

I see a lot of the Cybertruck's around town now. It's the 2025 version of the 2010's Hummer.
As in a huge red flag and an admission that they have a very tiny penis

NATO nations are not going to share intelligence with US, making the US even more susceptible to a terrorist attack.
