Trump’s transition is happening over private emails. Federal officials are nervous.

Agencies are weighing in-person requirement for sensitive data.

"... The private emails have agency employees considering insisting on in-person meetings and document exchanges that they otherwise would have conducted electronically, according to two federal officials granted anonymity to discuss a sensitive situation. Their anxiety is particularly high in light of recent hacking attempts from China and Iran that targeted Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance and other top officials.

... Trump — who attacked his then-opponent Hillary Clinton over her use of a private email server for official business during his first presidential run — is overseeing a fully privatized transition that communicates from an array of @transition47.com, @trumpvancetransition.com and @djtfp24.com accounts rather than anything ending in .gov, and uses private servers, laptops and cell phones instead of government-issued devices.

This break with tradition stems from the Trump team forgoing federal funding and the ethics and transparency requirements that come with it.

While it’s unclear how the decision is impacting a transition that is already behind, with fewer than five weeks remaining until Inauguration Day, one person familiar with the collaboration between the Biden administration and the Trump transition team, granted anonymity to discuss sensitive discussions, said it is further hampering the process. ..."

You don't have to compromise when you're the CEO and controlling shareholder and no one tells you no. I think he is in for a rude awakening. Elon is going to figure out the limits of working within our Congressional system.
Your naivete is very endearing.

Elon isn't in Congress. He holds no office. He has no accountability to voters. There is no mechanism to control him because the Republicans are entirely in his pocket. He bought a government and he will run it as he sees fit.

We'll see. Trump couldn't get Congress to do what he wanted other than that big tax cut for rich donors which the Democrats suspiciously acquiesced to.

Why would it have no chance? He has the house and the senate, correct?

Noticing the wording changes and talking points over these last two years, they will try it.
Because it would be political suicide for many Republican Senators and Representatives to support a bill re-federalizing abortion, especially such a restrictive bill.

Musk: "By now, they should know that I mean what I say"

Except when I call a British diver a pedo, or say that Tesla is going private at $420, or tell my baby mamas that I will be a good dad.

...or dress up as Baphomet

He also has no authority to cut any department, defund any program, fire a single person, etc.

But he has the financial wherewithal to remove any elected official who opposes him at the next election.
Throwing this out there to potentially quell the concerns about the Trump admin.

You say Elon has the financial wherewithal to remove any elected official. I think Trump wins this election without Elon, but that's just speculation.

I recognize that financial support is huge...but I also know that Harris spent about double Trump and still lost.

I would also note that even Trump himself, when he put his full support behind candidates, couldn't get Kari Lake, Dr. Oz, etc elected. He has short coattails.

In other words, I don't see Congress agreeing to anything that is going to put the Republicans at risk in 2026, 2028 and beyond. Trump will be gone. While Trump is popular, none of the other MAGA-type underlings are and he's barely able to get his people into office when he's in power now.

How much would you say the in-kind contribution of misinformation made possible by Twitter was worth to Trump's campaign?

I think Elon's money would be much more effective in Congress. As you noted, Kamala doubled the spend of trump and still lost but over 90% of congressional races were decided in favor of the candidate who spent the most money.

I do think Trump can get an awful lot of Republicans primaried but his record of his candidate winning the general is actually pretty terrible. And I think that's pretty humbling. He did not endorse nearly as many people as strongly this cycle as he has in the past because I don't think he wants to be seen as a loser. So I don't see a lot of Republicans standing up forcefully to Trump but I do see Republicans in swing districts voting however is going to get them reelected and keeping their head down try not to draw Trump's ire.

Not sure. I believe Elon endorsed Trump after first assassination attempt. Did his support have an effect? I'm sure it did. Was that endorsement an election-changing event? I don't believe it was any more than Taylor Swift's endorsement made a huge difference. I think people generally make their own decisions.

He is not speaking about Musk’s endorsement, but instead about Musk’s propaganda machine.

Harris campaign spent more than Trump campaign, but that omit the spending (such as Musk’s) which was done through groups outside the campaign.

There are limits to how much a person can donate to a campaign, so the big money donors operate outside the campaigns. Harris had more money than Trump from “small” donors, but not from the super-wealthy. Those big donor love Mr. Populist lol.

It's also political suicide when trump wants something and he has his watchdog musk threaten to fund the opponent, since the sitting representative is a RINO.

He doesn't need to be re-elected he can go for anything he wants and who is going to oppose him?

Mr Populist will reward them well... along with himself and his clan. If you thought the White House was a litter box for political graft and general corruption during trump's first administration, hang around for act two. Not to worry. The likes of Lindsey Graham will be around to add aromatic excuses to quell the stench.
