Humans learn much but integrate little from the historical outcomes of disastrous political behavior. Recently been brushing up on my Mussolini. Your quote, above, is a near verbatim description of how a historian described the Italian pop circa 1922 (at least the black shirt supporters). I.e. ignorant of the historical precedents, ignorant of their inevitable own demise, and placing higher value on political entertainment than their own rights or the moral fabric of society.

ttump's playbook has a stunning number of parallels to Mussolini and inevitably to Hitler (I didn't know until the last couple of years how closely Hitler copied and pasted Mussolini).

What we really need is a congressional investigation into why someone would name their child "Smedley." I suppose that name isn't Donkey Teeth bad, it gives Trashelle Owens a run for her money. What I think is that MAGA is gonna have to sit in the corner with a dunce hat on and their thumbs up their asses in 2028. With total control of POTUS, House and Senate, there is no one else in power to blame. The Callatoroys of the world basically have four years and carte blanche to prove that their way is the right one. If (read: when) that doesn't happen, they own it. No one else.

He's not completely wrong . It took a couple of years to repair the damage Trump did before, during and after Covid. After he lost the election, for that matter.

Still better than any of the other major countries did.
