I know this might be shocking, but Elon quoted something that doesn't actually represent the law. The DOL staffer who told the political appointee that the regulation couldn't be passed as a DFR was probably correct -- there are limits on what DFRs can and can't do. And anyway, the regulation referred to in that piece was only an internal guideline and was not subject to the APA, or at least not all of the provisions of the APA (agencies are given more latitude to modify internal policies and informal rules).

“…
Some 200 million of the 1 billion total coins have already been released and are being actively traded. The rest, which are owned by Trump-controlled entities, will be able to be sold at various points over the next three years, starting in April.

  • On average, Trump's companies will be able to sell some 24 million coins per month into the market, which at current prices (which keep moving), would amount to an income of $1.73 billion per month, or $20.7 billion per year. (Although no one has a clue what the value of the coin will even be this afternoon, let alone three years from now.) ..”

I believe Trump Org will also get a lot of fees from the trading of the meme coin through the COC affiliate issuing them — so the churn of sales among buyers and sellers will generate additional revenue to Trump Org.

Any foreign government or wealthy actor who wants something from Trump can bid up the crypto and/or buy as Trump org releases future coins, putting money straight in the pockets of the family. Makes the worries about foreign money spent at Trump properties in his first team seem quaint.

I was thinking the same thing. And that the valuation of his crypto holdings could be used to secure substantial loans at favorable rates.

The problem is that these sales are in an open market. There is no guarantee that an existing owner wouldn’t sell right at that time.

Ironic he is getting inaugurated on MLK Jr Day
I've had that thought myself. A man who stands against almost everything MLK stood for gets inaugurated on his holiday. Just another sign of the shitshow that has become the United States. And in perfect symbolism he won't even be inaugurated in the open air like most presidents but indoors with a much smaller crowd of minions and worshippers on hand. That part at least seems fitting. And as with his first inaugural I do not plan to watch a single minute of it.

I doubt I’ll watch tomorrow either, but if you missed his 2017 speech, it was actually incredibly revealing. Even after his disgusting campaign, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Could have been lifted word for word from one of the Nuremberg Rallies.

Oh, I read portions of his 2017 speech later on various websites, and I'm sure I'll read a transcript/summary of what he says tomorrow as well. I just have no intention of actually watching any of the event live or on video. His comments I can read later.

Trump controls regulation of that market starting tomorrow at noon, so we shall see. And every three months the family is released to sell additional coins, which is where they will make huge sums and where folks with business before the government will want to “invest”.

I guess Chicago PD may be put in the crossfire here? Are there any militant Latino gangs in Chicago/
It is all pretty scary

I want to see what happens with churches. If undocumented people take refuge in churches to avoid the raids, will ICE or other law enforcement go in to get them?

One did. The one who keeps claiming the Biden administration was the most corruption administration ever.
He says there is nothing to see here, so everything is fine.
Calla’s not a MAGA. He just gets his rocks off on calling out what he sees as liberal hypocrisy for some reason. It’s a bad look, but it’s not quite the same as actively supporting Trump. I was referring more to people like Ramrouser and Fake He’s Not, who legitimately love the guy.
