America is growing tired of the party who thinks it is fine to ignore American citizens in the mountains of NC while they live in tents while at the same time, tries to sneak $59 million out the back door of the EPA to send to New York in order to provide luxury accommodations to people who are not only not American citizens, but who are also here illegally. That on top of the billions already spent. And this is only one example of the many.

But by all means Democrats, keep doing you. Keep exposing what is really important to your party. America needs to know.

And why were those migrants in New York? Because Abbott and DeSantis bussed them there. And you loved that, even when the price tag was pointed out to you. We specifically had this conversation, you and me, at least a couple of times on the old board. The conversation went something like this:

Me: Why are they busing people from Mexico into a winter storm when they don't even have a coat? It seems cruel for the sake of cruel
You: Because now you elites in the cities will understand the burdens that migrants place on communities.
Me: I understand that. That's why the migrant costs are paid by the federal government
You: Oh, so you want to spend our taxpayer money on this
Me: I don't want to do anything. I'm just pointing out that it doesn't make sense to complain about costs while sending the people to the most expensive real estate in the country
You: You elites think you're better than us?
Me: It's got nothing to do with that. Cities are inherently more expensive. Since it's all coming out of the same pot of money, all your homies are doing is costing the taxpayer money

Of course, the problem is that the migrants are actually not here illegally. They are awaiting an immigration hearing. There are way too few ALJs to process the claims, which is why the average wait time is like 8 years. And during those 8 years, we have to house them, and because they have no work authorization, they can't do anything. They are in essence wards of the state.

Do you know what attempted to fix this problem? The bipartisan immigration bill which, among other things, vastly increased the number of ALJs to process asylum claims. That would cut the backlog of cases, and thus require us to house the migrants for much less time. I think the bill also allowed migrants to have work authorizations (upon application, maybe?), but I'm not sure about that.

Point is: this is a problem entirely of YOUR making. At every step of the way, YOU CHEERED the decisions that put migrants in NYC hotels. YOUR SIDE DID THIS.

Maybe next time, instead of calling me names, you could learn a few things.

Right, more details are needed but most any hotel in NY city is going to be a more expensive option than non-NY city hotel or using a vacant building, etc...

1. Vacant building? Are you serious? You are simultaneously complaining about migrants carrying drugs over the border, and housing them in vacant buildings? Have you ever heard of a crack house?

2. This was why it was a bad idea to bus the migrants to NYC in the first place. Your side did that. Check out my response to pandemicblue on the other thread for explication.
