Maybe, but Judge Advocates who would prosecute such cases are probably the most anti-Trump area of the Army. The lesser-known Vindman brother was a JAG and very popular within the JAG community. Military judges also don’t work the same way as the rest of the federal judiciary, as they are not appointed by POTUS, but rather by the Judge Advocate General, and a new TJAG just started a new 5 year term this year. Thats not to say there aren’t pro-Trump JAGs, but they’re definitely rarer than pro-Trumpers in other parts of the Army.

This is also why it is so difficult to pin down MAGA on almost anything.

What about the 'up or out' system? Was that just an informal policy where they give you a crap assignment to get you out if you weren't getting promoted?

I think for officers you could remain but would be dropped down to enlisted rank.

Obviously not many would choose that route.

I’m with you. I don’t think of him as a MAGA loon. He’s a lickspittle, to be sure, but they all are. As Trump appointments go, this isn’t a bad one.

Trump, Homan, Miller, etc These guys seem like people who will stop just because some judge says so? I fully expect this administration to ignore any court order that they don't like. At the same time, they will try to enforce court orders that support whatever they want to do.

Well, that’s good news. Trump has been accused of many things, but being a responsible person isn’t one of them.
