One thing is for certain.....neither Cuba nor China can expect any favors from Rubio. He despises commies....(and rightly so).
Maybe you were missing since 2016 but Rubio will do exactly what Trump wants or in a few years he'll be quoted along with most other Trump appointments as calling Orange an idiot and dangerous to America.

What do the vast majority of the military think about Trump? I know some retired military, ex-military, and just a few active duty folks, they all seem to be either pretty apolitical or generally ok with Trump. But I am asking about the top dogs, like what do they think about Trump.

I think all of Trump’s picks thus far are solid. Rubio is an establishment pick for SOS - which I think you need for that position. The only head scratcher for me is Kristi Noem for Homeland Security.
The one we’re all waiting for is AG.

Rubio already said Trump was an idiot and dangerous to America...back in 2016.

If past is prologue, there is a decent chance all these cabinet positions will flip within 10-30 Scaramucis

IMO the two most interesting dominoes left to fall:

1. What position, exactly, will Trump appoint RFK Jr. to? A real position of (dangerous) influence or some sort of ceremonial position where he doesn't have any real influence on policy besides making occasional "Make America Healthy Again" videos?

2. Will Musk be given any sort of formal role? My strong suspicion is that he won't be appointed to any actual governmental position - given the number of governmental contracts with SpaceX alone it would create some thorny conflict of interest problems. And I just don't think Elon has any desire (or need) to have a formal position. So how will Trump characterize his role and influence? Some sort of "advisor" tag? Does he get any security clearance beyond what he probably already has? How will his influence continue to be felt publicly and privately?

I expect Rubio to run for Florida Governor in 2026.

Then, he might run for POTUS in 2028 or in 2032 touting his foreign policy credentials.

The one thing he won’t do is speak ill of Donald Trump…..he’ll be “all-in” on sucking up to Trump.

Probably patting themselves on their backs and laughing about teaching Democrats a lesson.
No, really, they are. I read a couple of triumphalist articles from that crowd. They think they won. LOL. Can't wait for them to complain that they have no friends in politics. If I was advising Michigan Democrats, I would make sure that the Dearborn folks understand that they should not expect to get anything from Dems in the state government for a decade. They voted like the enemy. They are the enemy. Dems don't have to get back in their good graces. Rather, it's the opposite.

Marco Rubio will become the first American Secretary of State to have insulted his rival's penis on a national stage when running for president.

What an absolute goddamn lightweight. But I guess I'd rather have him than Steven Cheung.

On the one hand, yes, in the interest of avoiding nuclear Armageddon, you're clearly right.

On the other hand, I kind of wish it was someone like Cheung. Put this administration's assholeriness on the most public stage possible at every opportunity. We know it's happening. Might as well make sure everyone's noses are rubbed in it.

Nah, not for SOS. What did our allies do to deserve Steven Cheung? And friendships that have taken a very long time to build can be wiped out much more quickly.

I highly suspect Musk will be an unofficial adviser, but heavily involved early on. I am curious to see his battles with the hard core MAGAs on issues where they are not aligned.

Case in point: Musk on Twitter today posted that most electricity in the future would come from solar electricity. The sort of thing you would expect a billionaire futurist to say. But I expect not a very popular opinion in MAGA world.

EVs is another area where Musk and MAGA are clearly not on the same page. But Musk seems far more focused on SpaceX and Starlink than Tesla, at least at the moment. I doubt there's much MAGA appetite for big spending on missions to Mars, either, but I guess we'll see.

Have you fact checked this claim? I feel sure that somewhere in Africa or Europe there is a foreign minister who made fun of the prime minister's penis at some point.

Yeah, seriously, 😐 no wholly unqualified tv villain types in foreign policy positions, please.

Like I said before, I view Rubio as the least bad possibility for this appointment in the Trump administration. Setting aside that Rubio has definitely done the Kneel before Zod genuflection to work for Trump, he would be a reasonable appointment in most any Republican Administration IMO. Like I could see that being his job in a Nikki Haley administration as well and it would make sense.

Little Marco will do an admirable job of sucking up to Trump. Little Marco is positioning himself for a gubernatorial run in 2026 and POTUS run in 2028 or 2032.

Whatever Trump wants for his foreign policy, Little Marco will try to deliver.
  • Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua will be front-and-center in Trump’s foreign policy
  • China tariffs - huge
  • Mexico tariffs - equally huge (especially agricultural ones - see Florida’s agriculture)
  • Climate change? What climate change? Oceania? Fuck those guys.
  • NATO? Putin wants it weakened. So be it.
  • We don’t pay much attention to Africa under the best of times - consider it non-existent for the next 4 years
Little Marco wants….NEEDS Trump’s approval.
