As expected, a judge blocked Trump's executive order ending birthright citizenship.

Judge in this case is 84 years old, appointed by Reagan in 1981. He’s been a federal judge for 8 years longer than I’ve been *alive*, and I’m pretty sure I classify as middle aged at this point.

Of course Trump has leverage over Musk.

He's already gotten everything he needed out of Musk -- money to get elected. At this point, Musk offers very little to Trump. On the other hand, Trump very much has something Musk wants: power. If he doesn't bend the knee, Musk could get the Laura Loomer treatment, which would make Elon very, very sad.

You underestimate the power of the red-pilled tech bro and moneyed young white male audience that Musk rules. Trump needs that money and those influencers.

If Musk turns against him and convinces his broligarchy that Trump is a false idol just in the game to enrich himself (which of course is true, but would destroy the narrative that Trump is truly red-pilled), that could cause massive economic and tech damage.

It’s called self-defense. I guess n Trump’s view Zelensky and Ukraine should’ve laid back and enjoyed it.

If it becomes a Musk v. Trump battle on social media, I know who I'm putting my money on. Trump isn't losing any popularity contests until he f***s the economy, and that will take some time.

Could be. But my guess is that Musk doesn’t give a shit about abiding by US laws and could potentially unleash a lot of unsavory Trump and national-level intel.

“… Trump was asked if he was “bothered” at all by Elon Musk’s public criticism of his A.I. deal, which Trump struck with industry leaders including Sam Altman, the OpenAI chief executive. Trump seemed clued into the lingering hostility (and litigation) between Musk and Altman. “He hates one of the people in the deal,” Trump says. “People in the deal are very, very smart people. But, Elon, one of the people he happens to hate. I have certain hatreds of people, too.” …”

“… The memo, signed Thursday night by the acting head of the Homeland Security Department, offers ICE officers a road map on how to use expansive powers that were long reserved only for encounters at the southern border to quickly remove migrants. It also appears to give the officers the ability to expel migrants in two major Biden-era programs that have allowed more than a million people to enter the country temporarily.

Those programs — an app called CBP One that migrants could use to try to schedule appointments to enter the United States, and an initiative that let in certain migrants fleeing Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Haiti — were key pillars of the Biden administration’s efforts to discourage illegal entries by allowing certain legal pathways. Immigrant advocates also worried that the memo could apply to Afghan and Ukrainian immigrants brought to the United States under separate programs. …”

So, again, not just violent criminals, but also people who entered in accordance with the rules. But they’re eating the pets, or so I hear.

Immigration agents "raided" a business in Newark on Thursday, according to the city's mayor.

Mayor Ras Baraka said the agents detained multiple people, including United States citizens, a U.S. military veteran and undocumented individuals. According to Baraka, the agents did not produce a warrant.

… It happened at the Ocean Seafood Depot at Adams and Delancey streets.

The owner said about a dozen ICE agents came in unannounced around 11 a.m., asking to see documentation of his employees.

They didn't have a court order or, I mean, I didn't even ask," he said.

He said his manager tried to show his veteran's card, but the agents did not accept it.

"A couple of the guys couldn't show their identification," the owner said. "Twenty-six years in business, I never seen anything like this."

The owner said three people were taken into custody.

Surveillance video shows what appears to be federal immigration agents taking a man into custody outside the fish market. …”
