Musk has sucked Trump in on protecting “certain classes of people” (Musk’s clan?) in South Africa, it seems (probably not a big lift).

Trump threatens to cut funding for South Africa over land policy

“… Last month, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed into law a bill that allows land seizures without compensation in certain circumstances.

Land ownership has long been a contentious issue in South Africa with most private farmland owned by white people, 30 years after the end of the racist system of apartheid.

There have been continuous calls for the government to address land reform and deal with the past injustices of racial segregation.

South Africa's president responded to Trump with a post on X: "South Africa is a constitutional democracy that is deeply rooted in the rule of law, justice and equality. The South African government has not confiscated any land."

He added that the only funding South Africa received from the US was through the health initiative Pepfar, which represented "17% of South Africa's HIV/Aids programme".

The US allocated about $440m (£358m) in assistance to South Africa in 2023, according to US government data.

Elon Musk, who was born and grew up in South Africa and is now a Trump adviser, has also joined in the debate, saying the new law discriminated against white people. …”

“… South Africa's new law allows for expropriation without compensation only in circumstances where it is "just and equitable and in the public interest" to do so.

This includes if the property is not being used and there is no intention to either develop or make money from it, or when it poses a risk to people.

Land ownership has long been a contentious issue in South Africa for more than a century. In 1913, the British colonial authorities passed legislation that restricted the property rights of the country's black majority.

The Natives Land Act left the vast majority of the land under the control of the white minority and set the foundation for the forced removal of black people to poor homelands and townships in the intervening decades until the end of apartheid three decades ago. …”

"Mexico has made similar agreements without the threat of tariffs," posted Sam Stein, of The Bulwark and MSNBC. "Here in 2021 they agreed to surge the same number of troops to help with migration. Here in 2022 they agreed to invest an additional $1.5b. Here in 2023 were 15 administrative actions."
"It seems like the trick to negotiating with Trump is to realize he doesn’t have any idea what the current facts are," saidWashington Post columnist Catherine Rampell. "'Oh you want 10,000 troops?' says world leader who already deployed 15K. 'Great 10k it is.'"

"Ooof! Mexico, Canada and Wall Street call Trump's Tariff bluff," said MSNBC's Michael Steele, the former chair of the Republican National Committee. "NOW he wants to talk to Canada, delay tariffs on Mexico for a month and Wall Street is telling him real time his tariffs are 'dumb.' Ahh, the price of eggs, cars, avocados..."

I posted this in here yesterday. Of course the MAGAts who cried about us sticking our nose in the Ukraine will show nothing but support for Felon 47 sticking his orange smudged nose into South Africa.

So it appears the entire goal of the Trump/Musk administration is to place unfettered power back into the white man’s hands (as if they ever lost it).

Pound foolishness … threaten to invade an ally to shake a few duckets from their pockets and give Trump a chance to preen about what a successful bully he is.
I agree his antics are sometimes (often) unnecessary, but that is apparently all he knows.

I sat my mixed race step son down at our kitchen table last night and had a talk with him about what he should do if someone approaches him asking questions or threatening him.

Need some committed left-wing women to honeypot this guy into spilling all the beans on a secret recording. (Or maybe left wing men, if that's what he's into.) There's no way this little dipshit isn't constantly spouting off to everyone he meets about all the cool work he's doing breaking the government.

Although it's possible that Musk is keeping him trapped in whatever building he's in, sleeping on a sofa bed, lol.

Three of my grandchildren are mixed race. One's half Chinese and two, a brother and sister, are multiracial, being black, white, Hispanic and Native American. Their parents have enough money and in an environment to shelter them from the worst but I'm still concerned.

Considering border crossings are reportedly down 93% since Trump took office, hopefully all this becomes less and less of a problem as time passes. I see where Mexico has agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to the border since Trump threatened sanctions. Thank you, President Trump. Canada will be next. Now, on to trying to clean up the complete disaster created by Biden and his crew.

I think this proves without a doubt which administration wants to stop illegal immigration, and which administration actually encouraged it, and as much of it as they could get. Not a single new immigration law passed by Congress but yet to two T-TOTALLY different approaches and two totally different outcomes....one, don't come....the other.... come one, come all, and as fast as you can get here.

Down 93% in two weeks huh?

“If this were Pakistan, Chad, or Venezuela, the headlines wouldn’t hedge: A billionaire oligarch seizes control, dismantling democracy in real time. Musk’s loyalists, armed with executive orders instead of rifles, are gutting the civil service, locking officials out of government systems, and dictating policy from a boardroom-turned-war room. Trump, a fading strongman, is the figurehead; Musk, the junta’s real leader. Treasury, national security, federal agencies—one by one, falling under private rule. In any other country, experts would call it state capture, a textbook coup. Here, the press still asks if democracy is in danger, as if waiting for the moment history makes it undeniable.”

Own it, MAGA.
