This sounds so dramatic, but I’ve been thinking about it all morning. We are witnessing, in real time, the destruction of America. Not only are they setting up the override of our judicial system, they are greenlighting corruption. If they don’t obey the laws and no one is going to enforce the laws unless it behooves them, there is no freedom and democracy. America is not going to hold. And I’d like to think there are principled people in positions of power, but the end of the day, the vast majority of people will always act in their best interest when they’re scared. That includes individual citizens, politicians, judges, etc.

This reminds me so much of early March 2020, knowing that the world was about to change but watching everyone just go about their lives like nothing was coming down the tracks…

You have watched drug cartels just over our southern border amass billions of dollars as a result of exploiting the millions of people funneled into the US by Biden and his cronies that they will in turn use to create more destruction in America. You have witnessed these same cartels flood this country with drugs which has led to thousands upon thousands of dead Americans as well as all the other damage created short of death while the Biden Administration told you over and over again how the border was secure.

If what you see now reminds you of 2020, what did everything you witnessed the 4 years prior remind you of?

Hopefully now we will have a president who will actually try to stop the spiral down. One who will secure the border, try and eliminate the massive amount of waste and fraud our country is involved in, try and keep the rest of the world from taking advantage of the US and the US taxpayer, and instead of stupidly sitting back and watching China rise towards the top over the last 30 years taking advantage of the US, like every president before, will actually hold them accountable for their decades long abuse.

Now, if only he can get a bunch of Democrats, who put their own self-interest aside in order to hate Trump, out of the way.

Regardless of what you think of Trump, Elon or the whole DOGE project, I think bringing to light that taxpayers are spending hundreds of millions, and billions over time, to house immigrants in NY hotels, is a good thing.

You’d prefer they are “housed” on the street?

Again, this was approved through Congress in a bipartisan vote. Our current laws allow immigrants applying for asylum to stay in the country until their court date, not shipped off to another country. Once they are released from their short-term facility, it’s either find them a place to stay (the humane way), or send them out to the streets (the cruel way) to fend for themselves until that court date.

Don’t like the immigration system? Change the laws or improve our current system by adding judges to speed the process up.

But that’s not the true goal of the Trump administration, is it? They don’t want to improve or streamline the immigration process. They want to eliminate it altogether.

I do think it's essential that it's brought to light just as the ridiculous USAID expenditures should be brought to light. As to whether or not the President should defy Congress is a question of whether or not he has authority to defy Congress. If he doesn't - no. If he does - yes.

I also wonder if Congress knew that immigrants were being housed in expensive NY hotels or did they just generally approve FEMA money to address housing, not knowing that it was going to be poorly used.

Who decided use NY hotels vs a Motel 6 in the Bronx or housing them in a vacant building or other fiscally responsible options.

It's all so laughable that "avoiding waste and fraud" is cited as a point in Trump's favor considering his entire philosophy is "I'm going to do a bunch of corruption out in the open."
