Wait, so your initial reaction isn't to due diligence and be upset that your govt is hiding $4.7T? But rather be upset that the new administration is lowering taxes? You can't be this obtuse! You'll claim that DOGE has no proof, but will go down your own rabbit hole with no proof that DOGE is making this up.
And secondly, they dont need $4.7T to justify lowering taxes. Why do you worship the govt so much you can't see that they're robbing you??
Given that most of the claims Elon has made about what DOGE is "finding" have already been proven to be outright lies, I think it's pretty safe to treat any claims Musk and DOGE make extremely skeptically.

Trump Makes Broad Use of Emergency Powers to Advance Policy Priorities

Critics, including some conservatives, say he uses inflated emergency claims to create legal justifications for forceful action

"...Trump, in his dozens of executive orders, has declared a “national energy emergency” aimed at speeding energy production and electrical-grid upgrades. He has said a crisis at the nation’s borders constitutes a national emergency, allowing him to impose expedited tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico until they halt the flow of migrants and illegal drugs.

Other executive orders declare that the entry of migrants without legal status amounts to “an invasion,” giving him emergency authority to stop accepting asylum claims from those crossing from Mexico, as well as to authorize the Defense Department to reallocate money for projects such as a wall along the border, without approval from Congress.

A Department of Homeland Security memo cited emergency conditions in authorizing state and local law officers to enforce federal immigration law. Another emergency declaration formed the basis for Trump’s sanctions on the International Criminal Court.

... His declaration of an energy emergency comes as U.S. oil production is at or near record highs, and Trump has said the nation can do without the oil and gas it imports from Canada.

Trump’s border actions come as illegal crossings have dropped substantially. Border Patrol apprehensions in December fell to the lowest daily average of any month during the Biden administration. ..."

"... Presidents have signed many emergency declarations in recent decades: imposing sanctions, authorizing unapproved drugs during health emergencies and responding to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Democrats said Trump in his first term inappropriately used emergency powers to bypass Congress and start construction of a wall along the Mexican border after lawmakers declined to fund the project.

Biden angered Republicans by moving to cancel billions of dollars in student-loan debt using a law that allowed the administration to modify loan rules during wartime or national emergencies. Courts blocked Biden’s plan, saying he had overstepped his authority, though he nevertheless found workarounds that gave many borrowers loan relief.

... In imposing tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada, Trump used authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which is most often used to impose sanctions on terrorists or rogue nations. It was the first time the law has been used to levy tariffs. ..."

What's the basis for this claim? Compare Kamala's preparation in foreign policy to the following presidents prior to them taking office:

Trump
Obama
GWB
Clinton

A couple of them did pretty well on foreign policy. Bush 41 had extensive foreign policy experience. I can't remember whether Reagan did or not.

All four of those had very skimpy foreign policy credentials as well coming into the job. And you could also argue that each one of those had their biggest mistakes as Presidents on that side of the ball (Clinton-Balkans/Somalia, GWB-Iraq, Obama-Arab Spring, Trump-World).

Europe beginning to view USA as an adversary:(

I don’t think Vance hoped to earn respect in the international community at all. He knew exactly what he was doing and it was on target.

The DOGE process will end up costing a ton of veterans and disabled Americans their jobs because 30% of the federal work force are veterans and 21% of federal employees self-identify a disability:

“…Individuals who have served in the uniformed military service constituted a considerable segment of the federal workforce.

At the end of fiscal 2023, 30% of federal employees were veterans compared to 5% of the total employed U.S. civilian labor force. In the same year, 25% of new federal hires were veterans.

… In fiscal 2023, 21% of the federal workforce identified as having a disability or serious health condition. Of those employees, 2.7% indicated having a targeted or serious health condition and 7.8% identified as having other disabilities or serious health conditions. The other 10.5% of employees with a disability had either an unlisted or undisclosed disability. “

Yep. He doesn't care about what Europeans think of him, he's playing to his and Trump's rabid right-wing base here at home.

A portent of things to come?

In the wake of fears about significant reductions in federal funding, Vanderbilt has temporarily paused graduate student admissions. Current graduate students and faculty also raised alarm about research funding, doctoral stipends, visas and career opportunities.

You are really bad at this.

It's not up to us to seek out proof that Musk is not telling the truth. It's up to Musk to provide proof when he makes these outlandish accusations. It's called transparency, and it appears that DOGE is the only department in the federal government that doesn't have to adhere to it.

When Musk says the government is "hiding" $4.7 T, your response shouldn't be anger at the government, you're response should be, "Huh? Where is the proof?"

I'll say it again, con men like Donald Trump and Elon Musk have relied on simple-minded people like you for decades to fill their pockets. And you don't seem to be learning any lessons from it.

They have a website, check it out. Its transparent.

Can you point out on this website where they post the evidence that $4.7 trillion is being hidden by the government? Or where they post the evidence that 10 million dead people are getting social security? Thanks in advance.
First, did you read the website and see the savings section? Be honest

Yes and it shows $55 billion in savings. No way to tell if that's actual waste/fraud or if they are just cancelling things they don't like. Regardless $55 billion is about .7% of the overall budget, so suffice to say we aren't getting to a balanced budget this way. Also, any savings like this will be obliterated by the Trump tax cut plan. So now that I answered your question, please point me to the evidence of the fraud they claim. Thanks.

First of all, that’s not a website for Doge. It’s a link to follow Doge on X.

But let’s roll with it.

So, perusing the Website, here is a post from Musk discussing all the Social Security recipients who are dead. Then he provides as proof an Excel document with random numbers attached, posting about death fields being set to false, with no explanation of what he’s actually talking about.

Does this seem transparent to you?
