I actually think he did it to trigger Senate leader Thune I actually have faith Thune would not approve this one and orangeturd wants to fight Thune right off the bat-to see if he can "succomb" him

It will not surprise me one bit if Republican senators cave on Gaetz's appointment - or even cave on Trump's demand for recess appointments, which would be even more craven - but I don't read anything into Mullins' statement there except deflection. There is no point on him sounding off on the nomination and/or provoking Trump now when he doesn't have to. It would be foolish of him to get into Trump's bad graces by giving a spur-of-the-moment reaction to Gaetz's appointment. He has months to feel out his colleagues and get a sense for how to thread the needle of rejecting Gaetz while staying on Trump's good side, if that's what he decides to do.

Ah yes, Donald Trump, famous for his scalp-giving, willingness to suffer strategic defeats, and nuanced and patient navigation of the corridors of power in Washington DC

Why would Trump need to offer Dems a win on anything? He doesn't need their help. If he nominates Matt Gaetz to be AG, it's because he wants Matt Gaetz to be AG.

Also, how the fuck is there a “Deep State” when the damn Republicans just swept all three branches of government??? Must be the most incompetent fucking “deep state” in the history of the universe!

Trump appoints someone hilariously unqualified to be AG, and instead of saying "this is dumb, he should appoint someone qualified for this very important job" you say "masterful gambit sir, trolling the libs and establishment Republicans is exactly what you should be doing." LOL
