Ah, yes, like the "Liver King" weirdo. It came from body building forums and then was given a massive platform by Joe Rogan. Been bubbling up since the early 2010s, probably.
Well, unless Bernie is just trolling them (and I hope he is), Bernie and Josh Hawley seem to be on the same page with respect to domestic policy. It’s fine to call out the hypocrisy. But in no way is the Republican Party now the radical left.
I think for the sake of our country, we have to take a gamble and turn the keys over to Trump and hope for the best and if Trump becomes a tyrant the military will step in.Lots of similar sentiments were expressed in Weimar. And Hungary about a decade and a half ago. I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's more complicated than that.
Let's assume for a minute that it is certain they will trash the constitution and try to create an autocracy or purely electoral democracy (like Putin's Russia, where elections are in fact held, but they aren't free or fair). In that case, I would argue that we would have an obligation to trash the constitution ourselves, because then we will be the ones who can build it back into something like an 21st century update of what it was -- whereas they are going to build into white Christian nationalism. Yes, I'm aware that "we're the good guys" has been the mantle of any number of totalitarian movements (e.g. Maoism) and that's what makes all of this dangerous. But faced with a choice between a certain right-wing dictator and a possible left-wing one, I would go with the latter.
But you're right -- it's not inevitable. So what difference does that make? Hard to say. The consequences are still so potentially terrible that it's an unacceptable risk. On the other hand, the choice between a possible right-wing dictator and a possible left-wing dictator becomes less clear. To me, it's climate change that tips the scales here. The real danger of Trump isn't necessarily what he will do to America -- after all, at least some Americans will get what they chose -- but the consequences to the planet. Rolling back climate progress when in reality we need to be doubling our efforts will prove catastrophic and probably irreversible, absent the emergence of some fantastic technology.
Obviously my opinion carries no weight so it's idle chatter.
Thanks Joe. Trump had it under control but you just couldn’t help yourself thinking about all those future dem voters moving into red states. Now we have to spend $300B to clean up his mess.
The probability remains quite low, but I think the first 6-9 months of next year will have the highest risk of military coup since ??? Civil War?I think for the sake of our country, we have to take a gamble and turn the keys over to Trump and hope for the best and if Trump becomes a tyrant the military will step in.
According to the NBC News article I posted earlier, they are already discussing court martials for generals involved in the Afghanistan withdrawals. They’re even considering charging them with treason.
I would think that if they attempt that the military wouldn’t take that too kindly. Then again they could fire all non-loyal generals first. I guess one hope is that they are stupid enough to make a critical mistake.
Hope that the enemy fucks up is not a plan. And, as you say, purging the ranks of disloyal officers has rarely backfired on would-be autocrats, at least not until the wars start.I think for the sake of our country, we have to take a gamble and turn the keys over to Trump and hope for the best and if Trump becomes a tyrant the military will step in.

It is almost like they are trying hard to be wrong on every single thing. That is absolutely 100% accurate. In less than a week we've got conservatives now believing in things like price controls and naturally-sourced organics! Who knows what we can slip past them next. The sky is the limit!
In almost every way.Looks like Obama did more than Trump

We don’t have good options.Hope that the enemy fucks up is not a plan. And, as you say, purging the ranks of disloyal officers has rarely backfired on would-be autocrats, at least not until the wars start.
Except for porn stars, anyway. In almost every way.
Trump doesn’t, but the GOP still has to try to win elections in 2026, 2028, and beyond.Mandates don't matter. Bush claimed a mandate after 2000 and proceeded to govern like he won in a landslide.
Mandates only matter as predictors. Supposedly they tell the party that won whether they can go fast or slow and still retain support. But Trump doesn't care about that.
