I was being more than a little sarcastic. But the total absence of logic in Trump’s positions really does still surprise me sometimes.

ETA — Also, I think this speaks to the way labels impact Trump. Dreamers = good. Anchor babies = bad. If you flipped the terms, he would flip his policies.
Got it. Agree with all. Sorry I missed the sarcasm.

So he wants to keep the Dreamers but deport US citizens? I’m really wondering how much he understands what he’s talking about.
Deport them to where? What’s the difference in them vs Dreamers? Only their citizenship, which is a birthright. He can attempt to change that but I don’t believe even this fucked up Supreme Court will allow him to make it retroactive!

We cannot keep assuming that the adults in the room in government are going to be able to stop Trump. They might, but he has surrounded himself with sycophants. Best to take him at his word, no matter how ridiculous it is, and prepare for what could be coming down the pipeline.

The adults…you mean the senile insulated grandparents?

My parents live off of their social security payments and Medicare covering most of their medical costs. They would still find a way to blame the godless Dems.
Well, I am 100% sure any cuts would be grandfathered in. Politicians aren't going to cut SS benefits for existing recipients. So your parents have nothing to worry about and they can continue to hate the godless Dems.

As someone who is just a few years from retirement age I just hope they don't cut it for people who are close to retirement (actually I hope they don't cut or alter it at all, but that seems very unrealistic at this point). That's been my fear for awhile - that I'll get close to retirement age and they'll cut Social Security, and while I do have some other retirement funds I'll likely still need my Social Security to be fully comfortable. I'm wondering at this point if I'll ever be able to retire.

President-elect Donald J. Trump outlined an aggressive plan for opening his second term in an interview that aired on Sunday, vowing to move immediately to crack down on immigration and pardon his most violent supporters while threatening to lock up political foes like Liz Cheney.

In his first sit-down broadcast network interview since being re-elected, Mr. Trump said that on Day 1 of his new administration next month, he would extend clemency to the hundreds of his backers who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and try to bar automatic citizenship for children born in the United States to immigrant parents.

Without giving a time frame, Mr. Trump also indicated that he would fire the F.B.I. director, Christopher A. Wray, out of personal pique because “he invaded my home” and was insufficiently certain at first whether Mr. Trump’s wound during an assassination attempt this year was caused by a bullet or shrapnel. And he said members of Congress who investigated his role in the Jan. 6 attack should be thrown behind bars.

“For what they did, honestly, they should go to jail,” Mr. Trump said of Ms. Cheney, a Republican who represented Wyoming, and the rest of the bipartisan House committee that looked into the attack. Speaking with Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press” on NBC, he said he would not direct his new attorney general or F.B.I. director to pursue the matter but indicated that he expected them to do it on their own. “I think that they’ll have to look at that,” he said, “but I’m not going to” order them to.

Not sure how I feel about birthright citizenship but, depending on the costs of the execution, I don't see anything wrong with this plan, if accurate.

Trump aims to deport all immigrants in the US illegally

  • Trump aims to deport all immigrants in the US illegally over four years
  • Open to deal to protect 'Dreamers' brought to the US illegally as children
  • Trump says he would try to end birthright citizenship immediately
WASHINGTON, Dec 8 (Reuters) - U.S. President-elect Donald Trump aims to deport all immigrants in the U.S. illegally over his four-year term but wants a deal to protect so-called "Dreamer" immigrants, he said in an interview that aired on Sunday on NBC News' “Meet the Press with Kristen Welker.”
Trump also said he plans to take executive action on his first day in office to try to end birthright citizenship, which confers citizenship on anyone born in the U.S. regardless of their parents' immigration status.

Trump, a Republican who won a second term in the White House promising mass deportations, is expected to declare illegal immigration a national emergency when he takes office on Jan. 20 and draw on resources from across the federal government to support a wide-ranging crackdown.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security estimated some 11 million immigrants were in the U.S. illegally as of January 2022, although the figure is likely higher today. In the NBC News interview, Welker asked Trump if his plan was to deport everyone without legal status.

Trump has appointed his paramour, Alina Habba, as "Counsellor to the President"...

Will she be counselling him regarding his performance in the bedroom ?

You are talking about people that think retirement shouldnt exist and people should love work and work until they die.

I hate Elon with a ridiculous passion.

Gen X may quickly get bitten...and was the biggest Trump supporting generation, sadly.

Leon and tRump won't ever need SS. Why would they care about ordinary people who do?
I do plan to work until I die but hope to be able to work less someday.
