WTAF is that non-sequitur? I get he is talking about his nominee for ambassador to Denmark but still, he’s my guy, BYW we want Greenland and we want it now. what’s his freaking game? Is he high all the time? Make Canada the 51st state, seize the Panama Canal, take control of Greenland?

The third alternative is that Trump doesn't care who is calling the shots. He just wants the pomp and to stay out of jail with a side of power to punish people that aren't loyal. It isn't like he was a policy wonk the first time around. Nothing has changed, I'd be shocked if he's told more than one of his 'handlers' (miller and that crew), I don't care what you do so long as I don't get blamed/people like me; my taxes are dropped and I can continue to graft. However, while Trump might not care his handlers certainly do as their plan was to be the power behind the throne implementing their agenda. If the handlers move against Leon, that is a signal that it is a civil war over who gets to pull Trump's puppet strings.

Yep, pretty much. I've become convinced that present-day Evangelical Christianity is all about appearances with little substance underneath. Proudly carry that Trump Bible, proudly wave and post around your yard and home the flags and signs and symbols of a False Prophet whose entire life is a total rejection of pretty much that everything Jesus supposedly taught and stood for, and proudly proclaim that yours is the only true faith while forcing your beliefs into public schools so all kids have to be indoctrinated with them, whether the parents want it or not. #winning #TrumpIsGod
Evangelical Christianity isn’t the problem. I know many Evangelical Christians who we’d call Liberals; they do good work.
It’s the fundamentalist, right-wing “Christians” who are the problem……and, we have fundamentalist, reactionary Protestants and Catholics.

Yeah, that was what I was trying to suggest with my first option, but I agree that’s a possibility. I’m still going to be watching closely, though, to see if Trump’s cognitive abilities continue to decline. After all the criticism of Biden and the media’s coverage, I’m sure our house Pubs will be doing the same. Right?

The weird thing is that Greenland does have some significant strategic value from a military perspective, especially if Russia loses its naval access through the Mediterranean with what's happening in Syria and Turkey. But there's no reason we need to own it. It shouldn't be hard to maintain good diplomatic and military relations with the freaking Danes. Unless you're a geopolitical moron, of course. And Trump can't help but add racism to the fire of idiocy by suggesting we should trade Puerto Rico for Greenland.

Trump is weirdly setting his political capital on fire before he even gets inaugurated. The potential downfall of Justin Trudeau, where his groveling before Trump after the election and Trump threatening a tariff war with Canada was seen as a last straw for the weakened PM by a lot of his own party, is a pretty clear sign to other world leaders that standing up to Trump will be a better political strategy, at least in the short term.
I dunno, setting aside my extensive policy differences with Trump, I genuinely don’t see the political upside in a lot of what he has been posting and saying about Greenland, Panama, Canada and other foreign relations. It is sort of like the failed 11th hour assault on the CR, where he belatedly demanded something he didn’t have the votes for and had to take an unforced “L” when he didn’t even have to be involved at all, all the while blatantly stating he wanted to pin raising the debt ceiling on Biden so people wouldn’t blame Trump.
Or like nominating Matt Gaetz for anything, much less AG.
Baffling political moves, TBH. Like if I thought he takes any advice from anyone, I would swear someone advising him is a mole trying to undermine his presidency as early as possible.
