POTUS federalizes the Illinois guard and orders them to stand down.

The next Dem administration needs to remove the bulk of the combat power from southern states’ national guards.
Right. And then Pritzker declares that action to be an illegal exercise of the president's federalization powers and a judge has to get involved.

I agree all of this is farfetched, but it's the first time I've seen a potential scenario that could actually result in something resembling a civil "war." I don't think that's realistically possible between the government and ordinary Americans, but a clash between a state's national guard and that of an "invading" state, or between a state's national guard and ICE, is not outside the realm of possibility.

Well, well. I guess the Old Confederacy is finally going to win the Civil War! I look forward to Trump's Executive Order making the Confederate Battle Flag our new national flag and changing the name of the country to the Confederate States.
I would note that it's the Dems who are once again defying and rebelling against federal authority and firing upon Federal officials and buildings. So maybe it will be Chicago or Portland that hoists the battle flag of Northern Virginia in defiance of the Feds carrying out federal laws.

You sure about that?

"The man who fired more than 180 shots with a long gun at the headquarters of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention broke into a locked safe to get his father’s weapons and wanted to send a message against COVID-19 vaccines, authorities said Tuesday."

Yes. Random, mentally challenged weirdo vs. the mayors and governors of the States of Illinois and Oregon who are openly defying the authority of the federal government and encouraging lawlessness against ICE.

Wait, mayors and governors in Illinois and Oregon are "firing upon Federal officials and buildings"????

You mind linking that?

Turning a blind eye on allowing Antifa to attack ICE facilities and personnel. Johnson's PD wouldn't even provide assistance to ICE when they were surrounded by "protestors." This is where the Texas National Guard comes into play.

Turning a blind eye? You do realize the small number of protestors who engage in violence are being arrested by state and local police, right? Unlike the dozens of ICE officers who have been caught on tape initiating violence.

The Chicago PD should not interfere with lawful protesting unless and until it turns violent. Heavily armed, masked ICE officers feeling scared does not justify an infringement of the protestors' First Amendment rights.

And why the Texas National Guard? Does Illinois not have one?

When it comes down to it, you are 100% on the wrong side of this. And you would be screaming bloody murder if a Dem administration was taking comparable actions in red states (which, on the whole, have a much worse crime problem than blue states).

I’ve only seen mention of gunshots fired at an ICE building in Texas. That was the incident last week in which multiple immigrants were killed. Has it happened somewhere else as well?

Oh no. ICE officers were surrounded by violent protestors and abandoned by the police? Well I can only assume that those brave ICE officers must have been viciously slaughtered by the domestic terrorists who are attacking them with guns and improvised IEDs. How many of these ICE officers were killed and seriously injured by those lawless Anitfa insurrectionists?

I don’t recognize my country anymore.
This country has sucked since January 1981. And it really started sucking even worse in Jan. 2009 when over half the country went totally bananas when they allowed a black man in the white house. It started going downhill in 1981, but it's been in the gutter and sloshing around in the muck since 2015. The country sux and will continue to suck until the 2nd bloody civil war is over and the racist fascists are defeated once again, and reconstruction has begun.

Here's the thing. Not only do I not personally know a single person who identifies as being in an organization under the antifa umbrella, but I haven't even read about a specific person who identifies as such. I recognize that part of this is by design - organizations like antifa eschew figureheads, but don't you find it troubling that you can't name a single prominent member of the organization. Does that not, by itself, indicate to you that concerns about the dangers of antifa are, at least somewhat, overblown?

I completely agree with the danger and frustration about all this bullshit, but a few hundred national guard troops from Texas with light arms and maybe a few vehicles would have a tough time controlling four square blocks in Chicago, much less the whole city or the State of Illinois.

Improvised IUDs? Yikes. That’s a new and appalling strategy.
