"... But in the closing stretch of his third run for the White House, Mr. Trump — a 78-year-old whose voice lately has strained at times, whose speech has been slurred and whose energy appears to be flagging — is not quite the candidate he used to be. And neither are his crowds.

...The former president kicked off Monday, the final day before Election Day, at the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, N.C., where the section behind the stage still had several dozen empty seats when he finally took the stage about an hour later than expected. There were a couple thousand supporters inside, but the back of the arena had several empty rows. And there was no line outside.

During the final week of his campaign, Mr. Trump has at times been delivering boasts about crowd size in arenas that are far from packed to the rafters. And when he insists that thousands more are waiting outside, they are often not.

On Saturday, his campaign curtained off the upper bowl of an arena in Greensboro, N.C., that Vice President Kamala Harris had filled. Seating in the lower bowl wasn’t packed either. And whole sections of Fiserv Forum, his last stop in Milwaukee, were empty on either side of the stage on Friday. ... And as he tries to defeat Ms. Harris this year, he uses his crowds to back up his insistence that his election is all but assured, making the empty gaps in his venues more notable.

... Mr. Trump has at several rallies since then falsely insisted that Ms. Harris was lying and that people would never leave his rallies early, even as some were in the process of doing so.

... On Sunday, he arrived two hours late to a small airport in Kinston, N.C., where hundreds were waiting on the tarmac. But within five minutes of the start of his speech, a stream of audience members began heading for the exit, a steady exodus that never quite abated.

The crowd at his jam-packed Madison Square Garden rally, billed as the signature event of his closing stretch, didn’t stick through his speech. ..."

Somewhat notable that the NY Times is reporting on this.

I remain unconvinced that there's going to be tons of drama. I'm expecting the race to be less close than everyone is expecting. I'm not sure if the election will be called on Tuesday night because of the fuckery with ballot counting from the PA GOP, but I anticipate that we will at least have established a comfortable lead. I expect it will be over on Wednesday.
I agree with you on this, especially the bold part. Just have a feeling with absolutely no facts to back it up.

So, a couple of weeks ago when he was in Greensboro, he spoke at the Special Events Center, which is a smaller building in the Greensboro Coliseum complex. My mom board ended up turning off comments for several reasons, but one included his supporters insisting that his rallies were jammed packed while Kamala's were often barely full and the media was trying to fool people. Those comments were simply not rooted in any truth, and when people tried to call them on it, it got shut down.

*And now I see he was at the main building on Saturday and it sounds like he had about a third of her crowd from September.

He was at dorton arena today. What’s the capacity? 7K?

These low turnouts are just fatigue, people are burned out almost as much as Trump. He's been going to the same places over and over. Having a rally in Raleigh on a Monday morning with short lead time I'm not all that surprised at low turnout.

Capacity at Dorton is 7100 for basketball. Maybe a little bit more with just a stage. The pics I saw had it about 3/4 full. You can never tell though. Like if the CNN shot in Reading is real then he's totally screwed. But it looks like a shot taken before he started speaking so I'm not sure I trust it.

What is wrong with this guy? Now he is publicly fantasizing about Mike Tyson beating up Kamala???? Another one he blames on the crowd, I guess.

Very worried. I retain access to things from my old life and all 4 ICs predict to moderate to high confidence considerable violence the next few days. Sad.

My father "SmilingJack OG" always said that when when someone is dishonest with you that more than likely they're dishonest with themselves. They actually start to believe their own bullshit. My guess is that the any violence is going to be nipped in the bud and folks locked up. This white man tantrum is coming to an end.
