Magic tariffs!

“If you don’t win win win we’ve all had a good time but it’s not gonna matter, right? Sadly. Because what we’ve done is amazing, three nominations in a row what we’ve done we’ve gotta win. If we don’t win it’s like uhhhh [shrug] it was all, it was all for not very much. We can’t uh, we can’t let that happen. [crowd members try to pep him up]”

He sounds depressed here — like genuinely depressed.

I do wonder if his campaign's internal polls are worse than what we've been seeing in the national polls, especially the Republican-leaning polls that have been released recently. I also agree that in this campaign his age has really caught up with him - he just doesn't have the physical or mental energy or pep to keep going like he did even four years ago. It's like watching a wind-up toy as it starts winding down.

In all seriousness, the Bloomberg interview struck me as more embarrassing than the debate and the weird sway-to-outdated music event from last night. Ttump fell apart under the slightest demand to defend his positions.

Yes

Donald Trump abruptly canceled an interview on his economic plans with business channel CNBC, one of its anchors announced Tuesday.

Joe Kernen, the conservative-leaning host of its flagship show Squawk Box, revealed the move during an interview with Charles Phillips, the former Oracle president who is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, saying “Trump canceled.”

The interview had not previously been announced by either side.

Sources told the Daily Beast that the network had invited Trump to an in-studio sit-down on Squawk Box to take place later this week and that his campaign had initially accepted. The show has three co-hosts.

While Kernen is right-leaning and was named during Trump’s trial as one of a small number of contacts in his phone, one of the other co-hosts, Andrew Ross Sorkin, is also a New York Timesjournalist who has reported critically on the former president.

The cancelation continues Trump’s policy of avoiding mainstream television interviews, which included ending his participation in a sitdown with CBS News’ 60 Minutes. Instead he has been interviewed repeatedly by friendly Fox News hosts including Maria Bartiromo, and appeared with podcasters including comedian Andrew Schultz. His public schedule said he would be interviewed Tuesday by Bloomberg before an address to the Economic Club of Chicago.”

Donald Trump on Tuesday declared himself the “father of IVF,” a fertility treatment that has come under threat following the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

It’s unclear what precisely the former president meant when he made the comment at a Fox News town hall in battleground Georgia that was billed as focusing on women’s issues and had an all-female audience. But he has repeatedly returned to the issue – talking up his support for IVF – on the campaign trail, where he has given a long series of confusing or contradictory answers about his stance on abortion.

During the town hall, Trump also criticized some states for placing restrictions on abortion that he called “too tough,” saying, without providing any details, that those laws are “going to be redone.”

“The states are now voting (on abortion rights), and honestly, some of them are going much more liberal, like in Ohio,” Trump said.

Faulkner then noted that “some of (the states) are not,” referring to the states that enacted or activated bans or restrictions on the procedure after Roe was overturned in 2022 and where those limits remain in place. …”

At Town Hall on Women’s Issues, Trump Renews ‘Enemy Within’ Talk

Donald Trump fielded questions from an audience of all women in Georgia for a Fox News event to be broadcast on Wednesday morning.

“…
But if Mr. Trump was fazed by these attacks, he did not show it on Tuesday after the Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner replayed the footage of his Fox News interview. Ms. Faulkner noted Ms. Harris’s use of the video in her campaign and her descriptions of his language as authoritarian. Mr. Trump in response called her campaign rally video “a nice presentation,” before rebuffing Democrats as “a party of sound bites.”

Still, he did not disavow his comments.

“It is the enemy from within,” Mr. Trump told Ms. Faulkner during the event, which is set to be broadcast at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. And he repeated insults concerning his belief that Democrats are loyal to Marxists and communists.

He added of the party, “They’re the threat to democracy.”…”
