Anyone want to guess who is the only district judge in the Fort Pierce Division?

Maybe Mike Davis doesn't realize there are federal judges in West Palm, which is where Mar-a-Lago is actually located?

Hey, I know Judge Currie. She's a good judge - tough but fair. I'm sure she would do an outstanding job.
One of the most important facts in preserving American democracy is that Trump (and his minions) are just so stupid and incompetent. The thought was in round 2 he would be much more competent because he had time to line up smart people who were more politically aligned with him.

And while that may be true to an extent, the Lindsay Halligan fiasco is yet another example of Trump having the D team around him. And I don't even mean Lindsay herself. The people who put Lindsay in charge are the incompetent ones.

“… Prosecutors who led the monthslong investigation into James' conduct concluded that any financial benefit derived from her allegedly falsified mortgage would have amounted to approximately $800 in the year she purchased the home, sources said.

The government lawyers also expressed concern that the case could likely not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt because federal mortgage guidelines for a second home do not clearly define occupancy, a key element of the case, according to sources. …”

On the whole, I think that has happened, with the caveat that a lot of his hires are "smart enough" rather than actually "smart".

Where it seems to have fallen short the most are in the lower level legal arena and the military arena...both places where you have entrenched "actual smart" people who know they want to have careers past the end of the Trump Administration and won't roll over/can't be replaced as easily as in other government spheres.

So muvh so that Merrick Garland sat on his hands for years. And the National Archives and FBI asked nicely for months/years.
