“… He’s going to need us because it’s starting to form again [swirling hands], I see it, it’s starting to form again …”

What is “it”? A whirlpool?

Oh, one state invading another. Whatever could go wrong?

Hey @Ramrouser, wake the fuck up, man. Your guy is trying to start a civil war. And apparently also a war with Venezuela. He's out there looking for conflict wherever he can find it. What do you think that's about?

When exactly are you going to admit that he's gone too far, and when he does, what are you going to do to make amends?

For the few MAGAs on the board who support using the army as a temporary police force, despite it being expressly outlawed under Posse Comitatus, what is the benefit of a temporary deployment?

Even if it were successful in reducing crime while the deployment is in effect, how does that benefit Chicago on a long term basis? It’s not like the criminals are going to stop criming forever once the troops leave.

So is the idea just to leave the troops in the cities forever? And if that is the case, why not just use that money to hire more police? Is the idea that the federal government knows how to police big cities better than local police departments? Because that is not a very traditional Republican position.

National Guard is helping DC by cleaning out the homeless camps and cleaning up areas like Union Square. This, perhaps, will inspire the MPD to not let this get out of hand in the future as Trump will simply call the Guard back in to clean things up - which should embarrass the Mayor and MPD. Same with crime but yes Trump should allow more funding specifically to hire more officers for a long term solution.

Don’t think Trump is actually deploying the Guard to other cities (over the objection of mayors) unless to guard and protect Federal property. It’s more of a head fake to make Dem Mayors support the status quos on crime while he is seen as wanting “do something” about crime.

What happens to the Homeless when you "clean them up"?

What happens to the Homeless when you "clean them up"?
Yes, exactly.

This is like when my daughter cleans her bedroom by moving all her stuff into the guest bedroom.

This is not a long-term solution to any problem. That would be less of an issue if it weren't blatantly illegal as well. You can't have a federal police force (although DC is a bit of an odd duck on that).

So Trump is violating the law for political posturing and nothing else. He is the exact opposite of the NC motto -- to seem rather than to be.
