Whitaker is who I thought he'd pick. The key for Trump is to pick people who have absolutely no prospects outside of his administration. Thus will they be utterly dependent on him, and fully controllable. Real attorneys might worry that their decisions would come back to haunt them after they are out of office. But Whitaker doesn't have anything to worry about. He's not really an attorney. He has nothing to lose.
Same with the Fox News host.
Every single one of these hires are people who have nothing going for them other than steadfast loyalty to Trump. Except, maybe, Marco -- but now that Marco is giving up his seat, he doesn't really have anything going for him either.
I predict that there are no billionaires in the cabinet like there were last time, save possibly Treasury. Again, someone like Betsy DeVos has options if she doesn't want to heed Trump. Wilbur Ross has options. Matt Whitaker does not have options.
