My IC comrades tell me there's a serious idea being floated to abolish the AFT and FBI and create a National Police as a replacement.

Sort of like a Secret State Police, would you say? I believe the German translation is “gestapo”?

Edited to clarify: this is purely sarcasm

People are mostly digging out a Ramaswamy proposal when he ran for the GOP nomination as what he would do with his supposed government efficiency post:

“… Ramaswamy, who detailed parts of his proposed agenda during a phone call with Semafor on Tuesday night, said he plans to shutter the FBI, ATF, U.S. Department of Education, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Services. He will fully unveil his “legal and constitutional basis” for the plan later today during a speech at the America First Policy Institute.

“Do you want incremental reform?” Ramaswamy said he planned to ask voters. “Or do you want a quantum leap in reviving the ideals of the American Revolution?”

Under Ramaswamy’s proposal, which he called “seismic” in scope, these agencies would not be replaced. Instead, a certain number of employees from the defunct government units would be reallocated: For example, he suggested around “15,000 of the 35,000 FBI employees” would be “reassigned” to sectors like the U.S. Marshals, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and the DEA.

His broader goals include “reducing the size of the federal employees down by 75% by the end of the first term” and implementing “a revision of at least 50% of federal regulations that failed the Supreme Court’s test” in the case of West Virginia vs. EPA.

Ramaswamy’s plan to act without Congress would almost certainly face swift legal pushback, but he said he’s confident the decisions would ultimately stand.

“We’ll take it to the Supreme Court, and I think we’ll win 6-3,” he told Semafor, adding that he’s “taken detailed advice from multiple legal academics who are at the bleeding edge of this.” …”

“… Ramaswamy says the Presidential Reorganization Act of 1977 provides “an important statutory basis” to go forward with this plan, as it allows him to submit plans to Congress about reorganizing an executive agency. …”

I think merging ATF and FBI has come up and been shot down several times in the past. The Heritage Foundation revived it last year and Ramaswamy picked up the torch:

“The FBI’s chilling record of politicized abuses and the executive branch’s continuing misuse of federal intelligence authorities to target the exercise of free speech and other constitutional rights of Americans gives Congress clear and compelling grounds for enacting forceful reforms, starting with the FBI. In fact, the time is ripe for Congress to consider a complete reconstruction of the FBI, defining the scope of its jurisdiction, refocusing its mission on traditional law enforcement, and putting it under effective control. Short of that comprehensive reform, Congress must, at the very least, put in place the minimum set of proposed reforms outlined in this paper, and reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act’s Section 702 offers a perfect vehicle for doing so.”

But don’t call it Project 2025.

I’ve seen a few times now a joke that Musk’s First Lady name is Sissy SpaceX. But Uncle Elon seems like he will be Trump’s shadow.

I THOUGHT THIS WAS A JOKE AT FIRST, BUT NO.

Trump picks Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as secretary of defense

President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday he has chosen Fox News host Pete Hegseth to serve as his secretary of defense.

The selection elevates the television personality to a Cabinet-level position in Trump’s second term.

“Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country. Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice - Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down,” Trump said in a statement.

Fox & Friends With Benefits

Just remember, Elon:

--is the full-time CEO of multiple massive companies (Twitter, SpaceX, Tesla, Starlink, etc)
--formed and ran a large GOTV operation that he's now transitioning into a long-term voter registration operation
--is now one of the chief advisors to the President-elect and is constantly talking with him and sitting in on meetings with him
--and in between all of this finds time to tweet constantly and apparently be one of the top Diablo IV players in the world, which would require tons of play time

And now he will be running the so-called "Department of Governmental Efficiency." if you think Musk is actually devoting the time necessary to accomplish all of these tasks simultaneously, I have some beachfront property in Iowa to sell you.

[The photo in that tweet is not Hegseth, I don’t think — his tattoo is apparently on his chest ]

Pete Hegseth Was Removed from Biden's Inauguration, Labeled 'Extremist'

“… During an appearance on a podcast hosted by Shawn Ryan, a former Navy Seal and CIAcontractor, Hegseth claimed he had been due to help guard Joe Biden's 2020 presidential inauguration but was ordered to stand down because he had an "extremist" tattoo.

… In January 2021 The Associated Press reported 12 National Guard members had been removed from guarding Biden's inauguration after they were linked to "right-wing militia groups," or found to have "posted extremist views online."

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, CBS News reporter Jim LaPorta said one of these 12 National Guard members was Hegseth. …”

Maybe Hegseth could pull double duty and also be on the "Council of Warriors". I'm sure it's going to work out great for our country.

I still can't fully process what's going on. Hard to believe our country really wanted this group of nitwits running the country. Going to be really difficult not holding a serious grudge for what the enormously stupid voters are going to put this country through the next 4 years.
