You are making the assumption here that people locked in conservative media bubbles who entirely lack critical thinking skills have any chance of ever hearing, or independently reaching the conclusion, that Trump's admin is to blame for something happening. The question isn't whether they would sacrifice their children for Trump. The question is how they would ever figure out that Trump is the reason their children are dying.
Yep. They’ve allowed themselves to build their own North Korea.

People think the Dems are a bunch of coastal elite assholes who look down on them. They hate “experts.” They couldn’t stand listening to someone like Fauci over “their own research” on YouTube.

Fine, have a government full of fucking morons with no experience or knowledge in anything. Let’s see how this goes.
fauci was a fucking idiot and a liar. I do like experts but I want them to be right and honest. Not making shit up and acting like you can't be honest with the American people.

You guys control the Senate. Should be hard to blame Democrats if you can’t get Trump’s whacko nominees approved, but they’re already laying groundwork to blame Democrats for the GOP doing and end-around on the ordinary appointment process with a recess appointment stunt.

Recess appointments would require the Senate to be recessed at least 10 days and the resulting appointment is only good for the rest of the session (though presumably he could do it again next year, I guess).

The question would be how does the recess happen?

“… there are two paths Trump could take to making recess appointments.

The first would involve the Senate agreeing to recess for 10 days or more by majority vote.

The second would involve the House voting for a longer recess than the Senate, which would allow Trump to invoke a never-used constitutional power to adjourn both chambers of Congress.

According to the US Constitution, "in Case of Disagreement" a president can adjourn both chambers of Congress until "such Time as he shall think proper" - which would then provide Trump an opportunity to make recess appointments.

Trump previously threatened to use this power when he was in the White House.

In 2020, during a pandemic briefing, Trump said that he would "exercise my constitutional authority to adjourn both chambers of Congress” to make recess appointments if his nominees before Congress were not approved. …”

The kakistocracy is taking form.
The people have spoken. Apparently voting in Trump with both electoral and popular votes. Also again backing him up with majorities in both houses. And, maybe most importantly, backing of the SCOTUS. This is democracy American style and there is really nothing we can do to reverse the road taken. But, I'm betting that there is a bridge out around the bend.

The adjournment power should be read as part of a power for "extraordinary occasions." If the two houses conspired to allow Trump to adjourn them indefinitely, one would imagine that the separation-of-power hawks in the Supreme Court might get concerned. After all, they're all into the non-delegation doctrine, which prevents Congress from just giving its lawmaking power to the executive. Will they allow them to just hand the president the power to adjourn them indefinitely?

Oh, of course they will. Who am I kidding.

So basically Trump is telling the Senators, if you don't approve my nominees, I will just take total power indefinitely.

Gaetz is the one bad pick so far to me. Objectively awful pick as AG, no argument there.

I think RFK is high risk high reward in his role. If he focuses on food/nutrition and removing harmful chemicals etc I think he has a chance to make a huge positive impact in that role. If he focuses on being anti vaxx then obviously that will suck. I could see that one going either way but I’m actually optimistic he can Make America Healthy Again. It’s certainly long overdue.

Who determines what constitutes harmful? Amounts matter greatly. Some things you really need in small amounts can be dangerous in large. Will we actually have a biochemist or something involved?

More to the point, will the duels between Junior and agribusiness become legendary?

I am so damn excited to see RFK fuck with Mountain Dew, Doritos, Oreos, etc. not because I care one bit one way or the other about artificial processed foods, but because I cannot wait for people to blow a gasket because their Chips Ahoy and their Lucky Charms suddenly taste like molten ass crack. Anyone who has ever tried the organic versions of popular cereals knows exactly what I’m talking about. One of my wife’s aunts keeps that shit at one of the vacation houses we go to, and let me just tell you, it tastes like unmitigated ass.

You mean you don’t want big daddy government to spank you harder for eating your processed Cocoa Puffs??

Hilarious that righties are now championing government regulation of foods, after years of bitching about how Dems were trying to take away your Big Gulps and your SuperSized fast food meals.

Oh, I’m sure you all will gladly embrace higher food prices and fewer choices that go along with fewer preservatives.

Hmmm. Democrats don't have a majority in either House of Congress, yet it will be their fault if the Senate doesn't confirm all of his idiot, lunatic appointments. This doesn't surprise me at all, as Trump and his minions all learned in the campaign that they can tell all the blatant lies they want and their base will still lap them up. I'm sure that anything that goes wrong in this administration (and the way we're going there will be lots that go wrong) will somehow be blamed on the Democrats, despite the fact that they don't control a single branch of the federal government.

In all seriousness, if they ban diet Dr Pepper, I am liable to make January 6 look like a fucking tea party.

To be sure, the main solution to making America healthy again is obviously is to shift dietary preferences in general towards whole foods and not processed foods. That goes without saying.

But even when it comes to these processed foods, there are harmful dyes and other toxic chemicals that need to be removed from American food yesterday. If you take the sugar out then yeah the taste will suffer bigly. But take the dyes out and I’m not sure the taste will suffer? Guess maybe we will see.

I don’t claim to be an expert on food ingredients but I do agree with RFK that Big Pharma loves the status quo of America being the sickest country in the developed world and being dependent on medications left and right.
