My Father in law on Christmas yelled about a celebration penalty, he didn’t even know why they called it or had seen a replay, just yelled that the NFL had gone woke.
lol. i was confused about that one at first, too.

the guy pulled his shirt up to show off his non-existent gun in his waistband.

the NFL has definitely cracked down seriously on anything depicting violence or guns.

Meanwhile…

MAGA civil war breaks out over American "mediocrity" culture

Have you ever had the rainmaker partner in your law firm indicted for felonious attempts to fraudulently push Georgia’s 2020 electoral votes to Trump, and being assured those indictments would disappear if Trump were elected in 2024? If not, you don’t have much in common with Ramrouser.
Things keep going bad to worse for Fani. Judge just ordered her to appear before the State Senate committee to be grilled about, among other things, her offices’ coordination with the DOJ in her effort to target Trump. SHE’s the one who is going to end up in jail before everything is said and done.

Keep thinking that way as that's a sure fire way to regain power.

The US is simply following the Western World's general rejection of governments ruled by Elites with their excessive regulations, wokeness, nanny state rule making, green agenda and open borders. You see this change throughout Western Europe and Canada. A lot of this is in reaction to the heavy handedness of these governments during COVID. Normal people of the World Unite!
Thinking that way has quite literally been the path to victory for your party. Name one thing that Donald Trump has said or promised that passes any sort of test of logic, common sense, or truth. American voters largely do not think. They feel.

And yes, appealing to feeling is the path to victory for American politicians. Thats sad, but hugely true.

Oh, and I love that your disdainful description of the kind of people that Americna voters are lashing out against matches you perfectly.

Youre affluent, you have a graduate level degree, you work in a suit and I guarantee you haven't done anything resembling manual labor your entire adult life, possibly never.

Were your parents also affluent? Whst did your dad do for a living?

It was a complex situation, no doubt.

Multiple states actually did say to more or less go about your life. I think it was 8 total that never had lockdowns of any kind. They were Red states of course. ;)

Like I said, there was data early on that showed who was primarily at risk and it was largely the elderly, which is why Italy was hit so hard by the first wave of covid - they had, I believe, the 10th oldest population in the world at the time, which is why they had a 9% mortality rate.

I'm just saying that we probably wouldn't have had the same reaction from state and federal governments if a) they were looking at the demographics mortality data and b) Italy didn't have a 9% mortality rate. If Italy had a 1% rate, which is where the US ultimately ended up, things would have been much different.
And how do those states that didn't lock down compare in population and density? If you are in a state that is very rural the social distancing is built in.

So, basically you are saying that they reacted based on the information they had and that they adjusted as more information and knowledge was gleaned?

Hmmmm, that seems to actually make sense.

Lol. Nothing makes you harder than the thought of a black person behind bars, does it?

Are you going to answer my question?

yeah man, all of those red states that led the country in per capita death rates really crushed it.

Interesting that Wyoming is the lowest population and they were one of the 7 that didn't mandate any lockdown. Just look at how well they did.

By the theory of doing nothing, Wyoming should have had almost no deaths...

I am not following this issue closely so I might be off base here but don’t DA’s typically work with the DOJ to target folks they believe have committed crimes?

Of course, now that trump is there and able to Weaponize the DOJ as he has talked about.

Of course, the idea of weaponizing the DOJ is very different for trump. For him weaponizing is going after him, even though he is a known fraud and cheater. He's going to change that to go after people who are doing their job, if their job happened to involve holding him accountable for his actions.

What is the net worth of Trump’s appointees? Exactly what do you consider “elite?”

Two things to keep in mind.

1. Ramrouser has no clue how the judicial process works. If he's being honest that he's a lawyer, and that's a big if, he's a family lawyer, which means he's about as disconnected from the judicial system as he can get.

2. Ramrouser's salary is being paid by Ray Smith, who was indicted by Fani Willis for attempting to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia by fraudulently soliciting "alternative" delegates to assign Georgia's electoral votes to Trump.

So when you think about the worst possible attorney in the world, completely bereft of any morals or principles, that's Ramrouser. Assuming he's not just a flat-out liar, that is.

It's not that simple.

Utah is the third lowest death rate on your list.

Nebraska was 12th lowest.

Every state that didn't have a lockdown was better than Arizona, which had the worst per capita death rate and locked down.

a lot of it is that simple, though. the upper half of the list is mostly red states that instituted no or half-assed safety measures.

regarding AZ: Coronavirus: Things US has got wrong - and right
"In the two-month period after Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey abruptly ended Arizona's statewide lockdown on May 15, 2020, the seven-day moving average of new COVID-19 cases in Arizona soared, from an average of 377 cases per day to 3,249 cases on July 15. On July 8, Arizona reported as many new cases of COVID-19 as the entire European Union, while having 1/60th of the population."

Wow, we can agree on something.

This isn't some single variable debate, it was and is very very complicated.

There is no smoking gun. Based on your earlier comments, why are the 7 states that didn't lock down the lowest in death rate per capita? Shouldn't they be if the lock downs were not needed? Why wasn't California the top of this list? They have the greatest population, and they locked down? Think Hawaii being at the bottom has anything to do with their natural distancing?

But, generally, would you agree that the vast majority of the states on the lower end tend to be blue states and more likely to lockdown, whereas the vast majority of red states were on the higher end regarding death totals?

You have no idea what you're talking about so you just keep on spouting lies about me and my colleague:

1. My practice encompasses a broad range of civil cases including family law. In my years of practice I've represented clients in almost all types of civil cases in state and Federal courts, excluding bankruptcy and most plaintiff's personal injury cases.

2. No one is paying me a salary as I am self employed and have been so for most of my career. This lawfare "indictment" you keep referring to, and appear to be obsessed with, is now on life support and soon will be dead. Now, the prosecutor is going to be investigated and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it since she's made a joke of Fulton County's DA's office. At least in your latest post you've ceased calling my colleague, by name, a felon when he most certainly is not.

I have no idea why you continue to constantly post lies about me and my professional practice simply because we have political differences. But hey, if that entertains you on a Friday.....

it appears we need a separate thread for relitigating covid responses.

i would point out that the anti-public health crowd tends to focus almost entirely on death tolls and their own inconvenience. hey, you know who else matters? doctors and nurses. many, many doctors and nurses retired or left the profession because of covid burnout. imagine the stress if the curve hadn't been flattened by social distancing. but maga doesn't care about them.

and basically, my position about vaccines is this: vaccines are the greatest public health innovation ever. unlike almost every other aspect of our health care system, the supply of vaccines is more or less unlimited. when you see a doctor, you are using time that could be used to see other patients, you are consuming scarce resources in a system defined by scarcity. that isnt true of vaccines.

so if you dont get a vaccine (unless you have a strong justification), then you should forfeit the right to medical treatment for that condition. that choice was on you. we shouldn't let you consume scarce public resources because you are too much of a scared-of-shots whiners (this is surely more common than maga will admit), ignorant fool, and/or lazy ass to get an arm prick that takes 20-30 minutes tops with wait.
