One reason I hate Trump's assface so much (maybe the main reason) is his infantilization of our language. The fact that he has named this bullshit "the big beautiful bill" and that people are actually referring to it as such (and "BBB" isn't much better) is depressing. It's like a stupider version of Pee Wee's Playhouse but without the fun...
He's a conman. That's what conmen do. The easy to grasp talking point to market.

That being said, Democrats need to somewhat copy his simplicity. Democratic Politicians tend to farm their policy out to Ivy League MBA's and such. Clinton and Obama were famous for having long, involved policy meetings. Nothing wrong with good policy. But it loses all effectiveness if you can't market it from a political standpoint.

So what ?

Ultimately, we are all going to die. That being the case, does anyone actually need health care ?

I've advised my adult children to cancel their health care insurance because they are wasting money paying the premiums when they can spend those dollars on fun stuff before they die.

I don't have a problem with simplicity, but, like so much other of Trump's blabber, "one big beautiful bill" is just stupid. It actually embarrasses me when I see it or, esp., hear other adults straightfacedly repeating it, and I don't know why, and then the fact that I'm embarrassed pisses me off too...

Also, don’t forget, you’ll only lose your healthcare if you allow it to happen.

Wait, is he also agreeing with Warren about the outrage of tax cuts for billionaires?
No, he's a fucking idiot who has no idea what he's proposing. But I'm 100% in favor of getting rid of the debt ceiling. It creates all kinds of disruptions in the legislative process, and for no reason. The debt is either a problem or it's not. When Congress decides it's a problem, they'll do something about it. Until then, the ceiling just creates artificial barriers to necessary policy changes.

Does anyone have an idea of what 'you gotta work" to get Medicaid means ?
I certainly know day laborers that work independently that are on Medicaid-as are their children
Do you have to have an employer swear you work for them--or is it tax filings ?
If I mow someone's lawn for $100-am I suppossed to declare that-pay Soc Tax etc?

“… The new Republican plan would require beneficiaries to spend at least 80 hours a month working, training for a job, in school or volunteering to qualify for Medicaid.…

Work requirements are meant to reduce the number of people on the program: Roughly a third of the $800 billion in health-care savings in the GOP’s sweeping tax bill would come from the work rules, which would result in 4.8 million people becoming uninsured, according to an estimatefrom the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reported by The Washington Post’s Fact Checker.…”

For SNAP, “… Able-bodied adults between 18 and 54 who don’t have dependents must work at least 80 hours a month to be eligible. Those who don’t qualify can only receive food assistance for three months in a three-year period. People can be exempt because of homelessness, being in foster care or for other reasons, or states can apply for waivers if there aren’t enough jobs in a region [which the bill would define as over 10% unemployment rate in a county — which not many counties currently meet].

Most people can see through that bullshit, right? I mean, how many people would take this statement at face value:

I'm not having an affair, I'm just transitioning to a polyamorous relationship.

Everyone would be able to call out that bullshit, right? Everyone, yes? I can't think of a single person who would fall for that. It's too obviously stupid to be a funny sitcom gag.

And that is exactly what Lankford is doing on national TV. People understand it's bullshit, right?
