The cost of the bill to anyone who would pay less taxes as a result of those cuts and extensions are far greater than any benefit they might receive. This is a perfect illustration of most Americans’ economic illiteracy.
I'm not an economist, but I have very rarely heard that increasing, or at least not decreasing, the amount of money in the average Americans pockets is a bad thing.

Have you heard that putting a 20 in their pocket while taking out a Benjamin isn't a good trade?
Of course, if that were the case. Biden kept Trump's tax cuts in place, Kamala ran on not taxing tips.

People can find an economist to tell them most anything they want to hear. If it was a Democrat extending tax cuts and proposing not taxing tips and overtime, I suspect many here would support it and would support it because they found an economist to tell them it was good.

It’s ok to just admit you made a comment without knowing what you were talking about. We’d all forgive you.

Why don't you speak for yourself and stop attempting to speak for others. I think not taxing tips and not taxing overtime is patently stupid. I've said so many times and I think anyone proposing it should be forced to explain why certain types of income are "less income" than others to deserve special treatment.

Further, your statement was about putting more money into people's pockets and it was specifically that comment that I addressed. Sure, there may be some additional money to some limited number of people but those same people are often dependent on the very same social networks (like Medicaid) which the bill guts. Let's not tax Bob's overtime but take away healthcare from his wife and kids. This is what people are addressing with you.

Yeah, it's robbing Peter to pay Paul and Mary.

You do realize you are attempting to have a good faith discussion with ZenMode, right?

We don't need politically aligned economists to tell us this legislation is a net negative. The non partisan CBO can do that for us. Not only is most of the benefit for these tax cuts apportioned to the very wealthy, but for the bottom third the cost is a net negative...meaning, the poor will have less money in their pockets because of this legislation. Further, the healthcare cuts will lead to all healthcare costs rising for everyone. The additional deficit spending will put downward pressure on the dollar and upward pressure on interest rates. This legislation will be a disaster for the country.

WTH are the PROTESTORS, NOW? The Trump 2.0 Episode - 26 Hours in Iran has distracted everyone.

The Senate bill will KILL our R&D engine, responsible for 60% of new job creation since WW II. The deficit spending with the BANK ROBBERY for billionaires will cripple our economy long term.

Dems are not fighting hard enough. They think this irresponsible appropriations bill will help them in 2026. Their arrogance and fecklessness is infuriating.

Pubs are voting against the best interest of their constituents, especially in the red states. Our son is crossing the last t and dotting the last i on his dissertation in engineering, but job prospects are in Canada.

Trump, MAGA, and Project 2025 are disassembling the American science, education, and innovation infrastructure that made the US the #1 economy/capita.
When and where are you leading the protest? I'll be there.

Lmfaoooooo that didn’t take long.

The good news is that essentially guarantees the Democrats a Senate seat pick up in the midterms next year
