DOESN'T MATTER. Media will parrot whatever Trump says and the stupid populous will lap it up.

The Democrats have no cards to play. Then again we already lost the democracy so this is all petty details while the system crashes to the ground around us. This is the proverbial shouting which is left after it is all over. America had its chance and blew it.
I don’t the details of the change, but if the ACA subsidies largely disappear, there will be a lot of people doing a lot of noticing.

It would appear the Republicans want a shutdown. So Dems need to drop their demands talk, and talk about how the Republicans control everything and they are the ones who left town. All this talk of demands gives Democrats ownership for the shutdown in voter's minds.

Bingo. As we have seen from prior shutdowns, Americans pay no attention to anything beneath the surface. They don’t care about filibusters, specific demands, etc. They only care about the government staying open so they keep getting paid.

Dems can and should stick to their demands and refuse to support the GOP bill unless those demands are met. But the entire public messaging should be, “Pubs control everything, so whatever happens here is 100% their fault.”

Yep. The message should be: “Republicans have full control of the government. If they shut it down, that’s their decision. We’re not going to vote for spending that the president has made clear he will ignore anyway.”

Actually, you may be onto a much finer point to make. Throw in the messaging that Trump is going to ignore whatever Dems vote for so its all on him.

We are going to have a shutdown, so messaging is critical to get right. The quicker they get ownership is the quicker they will negotiate.

Luckily, recent experience has shown that democrats are fantastic at messaging. So I don’t know about you guys but I’m super optimistic to watch them out-maneuver the republicans on that front once again!

Schumer Sees an Exit Ramp in Standoff Over Shutdown

Senate Democratic leader says extending health-insurance subsidies would be central to any deal

“…
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Schumer projected confidence that he has an exit strategy in the event of a shutdown. He said that he expects pressure will build on Republicans to reach a deal to save expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies as Americans receive letters next month informing them of healthcare premium increases ahead of open enrollment in November.

“There’s going to be pressure on them on that…and Democrats are going to say, very simply, ‘Just come and sit down and talk to us and negotiate agreements, and you can end the shutdown,’” Schumer said.

Democrats’ list of demands also include restoring cut Medicaid funding and unfreezing money previously approved by Congress, but Schumer said those items were negotiable with Republicans.…”

Not that this is news, but if the Pubs will blame Dems for a possible shutdown when Pubs control EVERYTHING, there's literally nothing Pubs will take responsibility for.
Pubs don’t control senate - at least not while the filibuster rule remains in effect.

I'll make the Pubs a deal...I'll blame Dems for the shutdown if a funding resolution that Trump would sign fails only because of Dems using the Senate filibuster to stop an agreement that has already passed the House.

But the chances that happens has to be less than 1%.
