He knows exactly what he's doing. The more pain he inflicts, the more he can blame it on Democrats for causing the shutdown. Like he did to fund the border wall [that Mexico was going to pay for], which most of the public has forgotten.
Schumer will back down anyway. Bank on it.
He better fucking not. If Democrats let Trump getting away with blaming Dems for a government shutdown that occurs with Republicans controlling all three branches of government then Dems should quit politics forever.

Unfortunately the Dems track record during the first term and this year of not letting Trump get away with blaming Dems for everything is not good.

But clearly that needs to change...somehow

Just got an email from the department my agency works under about planning for a potential lapse in funding. It's brief and mainly focusses on Democrats blocking the Continuing Resolution and forcing the potential shutdown. I've been through many potential and actual government shutdowns and never seen a communication like this. Just add it to the giant pile of crazy.

Schumer might be or might have been a good Majority Leader. He’s no longer Majority Leader.

I’d argue he’s been a failure at directing/leading the DSCC (Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee).

I doubt he’s been a good minority leader. He’s not one today.

Minority Leader requires different skills than Majority Leader…….especially in this Trumpian/GQP/Freedom Caucus/Heritage Foundation.

Schumer thinks he can influence the GOP side by compromising. He can’t.

He also is abjectly moronic at PR and messaging. I just heard him refer to Trump’s spending and tax law as the “BBB.”

How many Americans know what “BBB” stands for?

Hell, I’m not a Bernie fan (I still think he intentionally contributed to the Democrats loss in 2016). I’d sign up right now for Bernie as Minority Leader (if he’s told upfront that if the Democrats miraculously win the Senate in 2026, he’s not Majority Leader). But, let him rail on Trump.

I'd wager that most of the people actually paying attention to Schumer right now know what BBB is.

Nobody watches this shit except people who post on politics boards.

That’s my point.

Schumer talks “inside the Beltway” speak.

Bernie built an audience in 2015-16 in weeks/months as an obscure backbencher.

And, lots more people are paying attention to a probable government shutdown than political junkies.
