The Cal radio crew is absolutely insufferable. Today they opened that Cal and Stanford should have joined the Ivy League instead of the ACC so they would be among academic peers.
Do you remember approximately when in the game this discussion occurred?

yesterday we hit a fly ball to center and they asked if infield fly would apply

It would have been sometime around the 5th or 6th inning.

They subsequently talked about how happy Coach Forbes proclaimed to be about being in California because it had been so chilly in North Carolina. Meanwhile, outside of Thursday, its been warmer in NC for like 10 days in a row than any single day while the team is in Berkeley

Thanks!

It sounds like it’ll be a fun listen.

6-0 heels. Looking good for the sweep. Rumors of our demise premature.
Well UVA was the only top 25 team we've played so far and they thumped us. Gonna need to see the Heels win some games against top competition to fully buy in.

Stanford and Cal are academic peers of the Ivy League. Duke is the only ACC school in their tier, with Notre Dame, UNC, UVA, Ga Tech and Wake at least being in shouting distances.

I didn’t see the context. Was he perhaps complaining how bad Cal athletics had been that it was more of a criticism about the sports?

Yea
We don't play a top 25 team for a bit Unless I am missing Louisville on some list ?

The context was just basic bitching about everything having to do with being in a new league.

If I were a Cal fan, I’d be pretty pissed about it too. It was so much better for them in the PAC8/10/12. They got screwed by events beyond their control, but at least they aren’t Oregon St.

Yeah, they can be pissed about it and not be condescending cocksuckers. One does not warrant the others. They also got their asses handed to them 3 games in a row and it was entirely the bad luck of where the ball landed for both teams.

Baseball is pretty much an afterthought for Cal - it came very close to being eliminated completely a few years ago. I wouldn’t pay any attention to what a few yokels on a broadcast said that was likely watched/heard by less than 2,000 people total - most of whom were probably Carolina fans.

Neither Cal nor Stanford got screwed.

Both had been carried by the Pac-12 for DECADES. Both were anchors on the Pac-12 in football and basketball.

There’s a reason the BIG-10 didn’t want either school.

Not a bad suggestion. It would have the secondary benefit of pairing them with their sports peers.
