Especially one that can't shoot.Kinda seemed like it was heading in that direction
Freshman PG with a few exceptions isn’t the way to go
I'm curious if Malone/staff are thinking of going with a value play for point, letting Neo do most of the facilitating. It would be nice to add a guard who can get a bucket when needed. Not sure Mingo can do that, nor if he is a point. He's definitely not a value play.
They are.We cannot afford to carry both Mingos. If they want to play together, they need to go elsewhere.
Agreed. Zero Mingos > Two Mingos. We cannot afford to carry both Mingos. If they want to play together, they need to go elsewhere.
I wasn’t factoring the financial aspect into my sadness. But I am sad if we lose good or promising players because they may not be worth what they are demanding. And I am also just generally sad that so often now you can’t keep young players with bright futures and watch them develop while they’re playing for your team throughout their college career anymore. I miss watching guys grow and improve as players while playing for Carolina. But for $2 million?
I think he takes a leap next year, really do... but not sure he makes that big of a leap, which means all conf type player
Although with the caveat that Caleb's injuries robbed us of knowing what the season could have been.I like what I’m seeing. We have a very strong opportunity to upgrade the roster at every position. That seems to be what’s in the works. Rip off the band aid and put a team together that’s not a retread of the “mid” season we just had.
Yeah, Dixon and Mingo both gone. Hope that means they will get Juke.Heels need to secure a PG ASAP.
Although we don't know anything that's going on with foreign players.
Looks like those days are gone unless they get a cap and contracts like the NBA, which they should. It sucks having a completely different team every season.I wasn’t factoring the financial aspect into my sadness. No offense. But it's easy to *plan* to upgrade the roster at every position, and a lot harder to actually do it in practice. (Not that I'm not hoping for the same thing you are!)I like what I’m seeing. We have the rare opportunity to upgrade the roster at every position under a better coaching staff. All signs point to that being the plan.
I still don't think this system is feasible in the long run, as every year it seems like the price to obtain top (or even average) talent just keeps going up and up. It's like the Wild West, and players ae increasingly able to name their price. And the reality is that fewer and fewer schools are going to be able to keep up and more and more schools are going to be left out. Eventually (not this year or likely next year, but at some point) some group is going to have to step in and start putting some rules and restrictions back into the game, or you're going to end up the with same dozen or so schools dominating the pay-for-play game every single year.Yeah, Dixon and Mingo both gone. Hope that means they will get Juke.
This is what I hate about the portal. Not sure how they are supposed to know who to go after and how much money to offer until they know who is gone. And in the meantime the player they could have gotten might be picked up by someone else before someone leaves and they have an opening for that position.
I mean, I even feel like if you take Caleb completely out of the equation, this team was probably NIT bound.Although with the caveat that Caleb's injuries robbed of of knowing what the the season could have been.
Is that much different than it's always been?I still don't think this system is feasible in the long run, as every year it seems like the price to obtain top (or even average) talent just keeps going up and up. I don't know they did pretty well after his first injury.I mean, I even feel like if you take Caleb completely out of the equation, this team was probably NIT bound.
That the price tag for even average players keeps sharply increasing every single year, yes.Is that much different than it's always been?
I meant that there 12 or so teams vying for the title every year. That the price tag for even average players keeps sharply increasing every single year, yes.
