Who is Harris?Don't know what the budget is, but Harris/Veesar/Avdalas/Stevenson, retaining the recruits and maybe adding Mingo the elder seems like ~$20mm if going rates are to be believed.

As I’ve said on other threads, Jarin’s typically a step slow on offense. He’s not the kind of playerwho is going to get the ball close to the hoop and seamlessly make a move to the basket to score. Instead, he’s going to catch the ball, take a second to figure out what he’s going to do next, and then make a move. And yet when you look at the box score, the actual production is so startingly low. He doesn't get many steals or blocks. He doesn't grab many boards. He doesn't make plays on offense.
That doesn't explain why he gets no boards on defense. As I’ve said on other threads, Jarin’s typically a step slow on offense. JukeWho is Harris?
His defensive rebounding career percentage is around 14%. In the NBA, 16.5% is average for power forwards and 12% for small forwards. He has primarily played the PF slot in college, although he has played some SF, too. That doesn't explain why he gets no boards on defense.
So does he have any plus skills? Not terrible 3 point shooter but below average. Same with FTs, assists, two point percentage, etc. It seems as he's (slightly?) below average in every box score counting statistic. His defensive rebounding career percentage is around 14%. That would suggest he is a slightly below average rebounder, but not terribly so, and it is possible that he could improve with the right player development coaching around him.

Stevenson looked like he could be a higher impact player at Alabama than he did at UNC. Maybe he will be more impactful under Malone's system than he was with Hubert. His defensive rebounding career percentage is around 14%. Yes but net efficiency on the college level is not a meaningful stat. Not nearly enough data to separate out lineup and competition effects. If you click on the advanced stats I linked, his net efficiency has increased significantly every year.
Freshman: -10.4
Sophomore: 7.8
Junior: 16.9
Net efficiency is one of the more important individual player stats. If he keeps that improvement trend for his senior year, he will be a very valuable piece of the team (albeit, probably not starter level).
He may not be great at any single stat, but his unique versatility makes him a good role player that makes the overall team better.
Adrian Atkinson on IC runs a lot of advanced metrics on various lineup combinations and we generally did very well with Jarin on the floor (but we did better with Caleb/Jarin than Henri/Jarin). That would suggest that Jarin could work as a backup 5 for next year.Yes but net efficiency on the college level is not a meaningful stat. I don't know, Malone knows way more than I do and if he wants Jarin back, I have no choice but to trust that. I'm just pessimistic that he will be a good player.

I was going to posit that Jarin was effective on offense because he mostly just stayed out of Caleb's way, lol. Your data suggests that, although again I think the data is too low quality and sparse to draw any conclusionsAdrian Atkinson on IC runs a lot of advanced metrics on various lineup combinations and we generally did very well with Jarin on the floor (but we did better with Caleb/Jarin than Henri/Jarin). I generally agree with you about his usefulness but Stevenson does not have "unique" versatility Personally I think he should be deployed largely as a 4; he was largely ineffective, especially offensively, as a 3 last year.If you click on the advanced stats I linked, his net efficiency has increased significantly every year.

Yes, he has 4-5 versatility. I don't like him at the 3 either, and Adrian's stats back that up.I generally agree with you about his usefulness but Stevenson does not have "unique" versatility Personally I think he should be deployed largely as a 4; he was largely ineffective, especially offensively, as a 3 last year.
Yeah fair enough, but that was also my point - being able to play the 4 or 5 is not "unique" versatility. it's pretty common.Yes, he has 4-5 versatility. I don't like him at the 3 either, and Adrian's stats back that up.
Fortunately, it looks like we will have the 3 position locked down next year and won't need Jarin there.
