UNC basketball 2026 transfer portal





An erratic first season at State. He was a top 25-30 HS recruit who originally committed to Miami but re-opened his recruitment due to the coaching change, ending up at State.
 
Can someone help me here -- why do commentators keep saying that the portal is closing and so time is running out? I thought a player merely needed to be in the portal now; once in the portal, he can take as long as he wants to commit elsewhere. Do I have that wrong?

That is correct. But there is always a lot of smoke about back channels with guys who have not entered the portal and waiting to see if they put their names at the last minute, usually because they already have a deal with a new team.

Also, anyone who had a coaching change might have extra time to put their name in the portal (usually 15 days after the coach announces departure).

You have that right. It just means new players can't enter (unless their coach leaves).

Now I can be honest with you folks.

I was PRAYING you would fuck around and hire him. He's awful. As much as it pains me to say this, you guys hired a good coach. Give him time to cook.

You don't know that we hired a good college coach. Makes zero sense to hire a coach with zero college head coaching experience, then fire him a few yrs later, then hire another coach with zero college head coaching experience and pay him almost twice as much. Especially given the Bellichick disaster so far. I'm beginning to think it's a great plan by a dookie to ruin our FB and BB programs.

It seems you could be a great coach without having coached in college. Especially if you have been successful at a higher level.
 
So has Juke committed somewhere? I saw that list of ten best still in the portal and he wasn't listed. I thought he was one of the best players in the portal? This shit moves too quickly to follow unless you are really paying close attention.
