I was always skeptical about how easy this transition would be. That said, I'm provisionally happy with the staff. Are we in that much worse shape than last year this time? I don't remember but I do remember that we were 3-4 games into the season before I was sure we'd be any good at all. We sure are unfinished and you all sure are bad at it but I still suggest a little more patience.

Hell, it might not work out this year. I still won't know if it was more the transition in coaching or player acquisition that was the problem. Expecting to get through the combination of both unscathed borders on the ridiculous.
In theory I agree. But Luka Bogavac was the only rotation player not signed by this point last year.

I think that is an entirely reasonable decision, but that doesn't mean Veesaar's decision is unreasonable. He is betting on himself, which may look foolish in the long run to outside observers, but ultimately we can't get inside his head to understand how he weighs all the factors in play.
Plus, ultimately, it's his life. He needs to do what he feels is best for him. Maybe he's just ready for the next step. Maybe he doesn't enjoy college or has passed it by. Who knows? I wish him all the best.

I can't fault a guy for wanting to go to the highest level. Flexel Lendeborg took the money to beat up on teenagers when he was 24. I find that embarrassing. Henri is good enough to play with the best and seems to want the challenge. He'll make many millions either way. He did everything - and more - that UNC could have expected this year and wants to fulfill his dream.
How can you support Henri making his own choices and at the same time state that Lendeborg making his own decision was embarrassing?

Lendeborg won a national championship, he fulfilled his promise to his mother, he had a great year, and still will play professional. I'm not sure how that can be embarrassing.

We hired a coach April 7. Not realistic to think we'd be on the same timeline as last year.

If Henri had stayed, we'd have been done with the entire starting lineup on Monday. Given that dynamic, I can't imagine anyone would have wanted to move on another center before Henri made his decision.

I'm still salty about how things went down at the end of the year. I'm getting to the point where I am about to let it go, but I'm not there yet. I'll work on being less negative moving forward.

Guilty! Everytime Henri popped out beyond the arc and took a shot I had a reflexive "NO!" rise in my throat, frequently squashed by a resounding "YES!" when it went in. I remember a similar feeling when Mel Counts of the 1960's Lakers would take and hit outside shots.
No threes in the ‘60’s.

I am not going to copy paste ON3 stuff-but we after two bigs in Europe and one from the BIg
Likely just one is a starter
We are after a lot more than that. IC already posted a 4th name and there are many more feelers out there.

We have money to spend and there is legitimate talent out there. We won't replace Henri's unique skillset but we could get a couple of bigs that offer things Henri couldn't.
