UNC basketball 2026 transfer portal

So was this an admissions thing like people are speculating, or did Logue get wind that we’re trying to add more guys to the front court?

If it’s admissions... Man idk. I have no problem with UNC wanting to stick to its standards, but how is the academic stuff not clearly vetted before the announcement that the player is coming here gets made? Embarrassing for Logue and not the best look for UNC either.
My understanding is that some of his courses weren't accepted. That's the same reason Caleb Love couldn't go to Michigan and ended up at Arizona. Iirc, this was a departmental level thing where certain courses just wouldn't count there.

Off topic a bit maybe
It is a waste of time-bad look-for Malone et all to pursue these guys
It is also telling that the Agent rules are such that they can peddle these guys
We are supposedly pursuing a guy right now-Faye-who is working on his GED
Whatever Agent is pushing him is just not right to put his client in such a position
I hope the stuff about Faye is wrong

If the issue really is that some of his course credits can’t be transferred then I can understand that. No complaints from me.

What I don’t get is why both sides can’t figure stuff like that out behind the scenes before it becomes public that the player intends to transfer. Caleb Love/Michigan is another example and I felt the exact same way about that.

I guess Caleb and our recent muff are just examples of quick recruitment portal crap
Can't wait for the drama with recruits that dropped out of their native land HS 3 years ago and are playing Euro ball

Because you lock the player down with a commitment then worry about the details, as you want the commitment.

The other issue with doing it a different way would be that players would have to send their full transcripts to every school they’re considering so they can be vetted before they commit.

As I recall in the Luca case it tooks us weeks to get the school(s) transcripts
My new rant theme is that Agents should coordinate quick responses

I understand that these things move quickly and you want to lock players down ASAP, but the part about the transcripts still doesn’t make sense to me.

Let’s say the two sides are close to a commitment and agree big picture about role, NIL, etc. Why can the school not just say “hey this sounds great we can’t wait for you to play for us. Before we make it official tomorrow afternoon, take 35 seconds to email us your transcript. We have people standing by on our side that are familiar with this stuff check everything out to make sure it’s good to go.”?

I’ve never worked in academia and I guess it’s clearly more complicated than that, especially for guys that are transferring near the end of their college careers and have more credits to review. Just feel like there has to be a way for both sides to be more efficient when they’re coordinating this stuff.

What are we doing? Why do these pro athletes also need to be taking classes?

If this were a political thread, now would be the time where Zen or Ram starts saying that the problem is the tutors. They keep wanting more athletes in sports so they can keep getting paid and keep the gravy train going.

Hopefully they can lock up this other center Faye

Would feel A LOT better about the 5 spot after Henri’s departure

Would be quite an impressive quick pivot

The team looks to be shaping up well for next season. Maybe not a single player as good as Caleb and Henri, but collectively it could be a better team overall compared to this past season's.
The Henri decision really set us back, but I do like the pieces he’s put together so far.
