UNC Basketball Possible coaches

A lot of people want Donavan, but I feel like anything other than Lloyd, May and Otzelberger would not be a huge get. I think Donavan, Byington and McCollum would be good and still better than Hubert, but not what I would call a home run hire.

I don't think a lot of people want Donovan over those 3.

But, he might be the only 1 of those 3 who will take it.

Those aren't the only two options.

Pro GMs are not tied to pro coaches. Also, pro GM pay is much higher than college GM pay. There would be no reason to assume that a pro head coach would come to UNC with the pro GM.
 
Unless we hire a coach who has his own GM he wants to bring with him, I'd be surprised if we move on from Jim Tanner in the role.

It would be a very interesting development to hire a GM that is new to both the coach and the school and I'm not sure what the justification would be.

Tanner should get canned if for no other reason than he spent money on Kyan Evans.

I've said this before...Kyan Evans was a "2am at the bar and I need to go home with somebody" choice after numerous other choices turned us down.

At that point, the other realistic options were handing the starting PG position to Trimble or starting Dixon from day one (or going for another risk like Evans).

I don't think you can really hold Evans against Tanner in any real way.

Why not another 10 or 20 million?

We were top 10 - and possibly higher - in NIL last year. At some point, the primary solution can't be to have so much money you can just buy a dominant team.

Would it have been better to have kept Cadeau? Probably. I wonder what really made him leave. Was Carolina not willing to pay him what he wanted?

Tanner is responsible for making sure we have a hot chick before 2 AM.

Just sayin'. If you needed 5 million to round out the roster find it.

Don’t think it is that simple. We were looking under couch cushions to get the extra $4 million to get Luka and Jarin.
