As I recall, several weeks ago Bill B argued - more than once - that this team has been making steady progress. And he argued that when assessing progress it is not always wisest to focus on the scoreboard

I agreed with him then and I agree with him now. this team has made consistent progress, even though there is much to accomplish,

I enjoy this team and I am happy to pay no attention to the internet "fans" who do not enjoy it.

It would be nice if we made a bowl game, if only because of the extra practice time

That doesn't kill me. There is no way, no how this team belongs in a conference championship game.

Louisville and Ga Tech deserve that. Hopefully, the Hoos drop a couple of games. Otherwise, they may be the worst "undefeated" conference team in the P4.

Interesting PC tonight. Long and worry bu his standards. Lots of self reflection.

I havent watched a down since halftime of the Clemson game. Most of that has been travel related but at least some of it is just that the desire to see ACC football is nonexistent. I wish that were not the case. I am glad for the team that they have won a couple of games. I cant speak to whether they have really improved. It would seem to me they must have but every other team in the league is so horrifically bad that it is hard to say.

It’s some improvement AND Cal is not a good P4 team…..wouldn’t be a good G5 team.
Cal is a Jekyll and Hyde team, which sometimes happens with a freshman QB. Beat Louisville tonight. At Louisville. I'd say Cal is a pretty average ACC team - definitely in a tier above UNC.

I thought BB's PC was interesting tonight. Spoke for 26 minutes. Extended the PC several questions. Was pretty chatty for him.. Acknowledged mistakes, saying he would have done some things differently if he had known then what he knows now.

There has definitely been improvement on the defensive side of the ball. They look really good- the defensive line is doing a killer good job pressuring opposing quarterbacks.

There has been almost no discernible improvement on the offensive side of the ball. Syracuse and Stanford are the two worst defenses in the ACC and we still looked positively dreadful against both of them each for a half. The scheme is bad, the play calling is worse.

Overall, though, it’s been great to see the team rewarded with wins the last two weeks. They took two teams in Cal and Virginia that I think are solid ball clubs to the wire and had heartbreaking losses. They clearly have been working and playing hard since the Clemson debacle. However I may feel about the coaching staff, nothing makes me happier than when the young men wearing our alma mater’s name on their jerseys win games.

I still hold the belief that it’s a long shot that this whole Belichick experiment is going to work out as well in the long run as we’d have all hoped when he was hired last December. I do, however, think that there is at least a bigger glimmer of hope now than there was a month ago, and that’s not nothing. Defensively, the proof of concept is there. Offensively, they’re going to have to do a complete overhaul schematically and at the QB position for there to be any hope of success moving forward.

I think that these next three weeks against in-state rivals will tell a lot. Win at least one of them and I think that, while 5-7 is significantly below the standard of what should have been acceptable this season, it at least demonstrates late season growth and improvement and something on which to build in the offseason. Lose all 3, and we are 4-8 and I think it’s harder to make an argument that any real progress was made other than being fortunate enough to play bad Syracuse and Stanford teams.

Trying to watch the condensed game on YouTube this morning since I don’t have CW and couldn’t watch yesterday. Of course the official edit that the ACC put out has no infographics to show the time or score to give context. Hate this conference so much man.

Can’t recall the last time I saw a tripping penalty and a personal foul for pulling someone off the pile, particularly in the same game.

I typically don’t watch football on the CW, and so don’t have a lot of experience with their broadcast crew. I found them quite lacking. Repeated claims that Stanford was dominating the game, when they had less than 100 yards of offense and were losing. Then they quickly switched to say that Carolina was dominating, even though we were only up a touchdown.

i notice the same people piling on our offense are the same people hailing our defense. shouldnt you be hailing our opponents defenses instead of piling on our offense?

I treasure every win every year because our history shows we have been a 7-5 program for 100 years.
Each year I hope for at least seven wins and winning the neighborhood.

It's a long shot for sure, but beating wake, dook**, and ncst would make for a very successful season for me:)

Yeah.

I thought the personal foul for pulling someone off the pile was silly. That's something that happens in every game and no one cares.

The tripping was pretty egregious, which is apparently why it was called.
