There really is no reason UNC can't be a top 25 football program if schools like Indiana, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Memphis and South Florida have top 25 teams. UNC has the name recognition and the money. It's all about making the right decisions with coaching and personnel, and UNC has just been bad to awful at making those decisions. Belichick was a bad hire from the start. No NFL team wanted him, his record without Brady, Gronk, Edelman, etc sucked, and he's making bizarre personal decisions like dating a woman who could be his granddaughter and allowing her to handle interviews and be on the field during games. The Board of Trustees going behind Bubba's back and talking to Belichick was ridiculous and wrong. Instead of trying to get a young coach that has proved he can coach in college, Bubba was pretty much forced to hire Belichick. Just a massive cluster fuck.

I legitimately may have an aneurysm laughing so hard at this post. This is easily – EASILY- the single most humiliating thing I’ve ever seen written on any sports message board ever.

I would be embarrassed for a peewee Dad who said that. Much less a fan of a college football "program."

That poster certainly has a very, ah, creative imagination and fantasy life, I'll give him that.

I don't get it. What is SO bad about that? I mean, obviously the poster is whining and it's weak, but EASILY the most humiliating thing ever? I must be missing something again.

Saying that the other coach was being mean because he called a double pass on the first play of the game? Or blitzed a lot?

That is humiliating that any “fan” would think that, much less say it. Which is why I think it may be a troll post.

i guess mileage may vary. I agree it's ridiculous. It's humiliating for that poster. But I can't see how it rises to how it was originally described. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I guess we have different takes on what constitutes humiliating.

That poster may be the angriest, most unhinged MAGA tater I've ever seen on the old ZZL. Just totally looney tunes. I'm not surprised to see his MAGA victimhood complex carry over to sports as well.

The notion that calling a trick play on the first play of a football game to score a touchdown, or the notion that a defensive coordinator calling blitzes is unsportsmanlike, is absolute insanity as far as sports message board post go, in my opinion. It is almost a guarantee that that guy has never played competitive organized sports, because nobody with a fraction of an ounce of competitive spirit in them would say something so outlandishly whiny. In my opinion, of course!

I was surprised Clemson ran a few trick plays. They clearly didn't need to, and could have saved them for when they might need them.

Yeah but I’m sure you didn’t think it was *unsportsmanlike* of them, though.

And the reason why Clemson ran that trick play to start wasn’t because they felt that they needed to do so to be able to beat us. It was to send a clear message about what Dabo thinks of all of the BS and hubris about the NFL’s 33rd team and Belichick being the such a bigly football genius and all other college coaches being dumb rubes by comparison. They had that particular play call locked and loaded in the chamber for that particular situation in that particular game against that particular coaching staff for that particular reason I described above. Put it this way, that play doesn’t get called if Mack Brown is on the UNC sideline.

Definitely not unsportsmanlike. Surely that post was a joke. Surely no one actually thought it was unsportsmanlike.

Maybe it's because I care more about basketball than football, but seeing Duke make UNC look like a high school team last year in basketball, in year four of HD, was far more disheartening than the shit-show yesterday. Especially after the disaster of year two, and scrapping to get into the tournament two of the other three years. Couple that with him all but refusing to modernize their approach to the game (using analysts, being forced into working with a GM, and so on), seemingly not knowing how to put his players in position to enhance their abilities, defenses, etc., I have very little faith in that staff.

Caring and wanting to win are two things, being able to do what is needed to win is far more important.
after duke dog-walked us last year, HD got his team tightened up, made some tweaks, and in two more games against duke, at least looked like they belonged on the same floor as what was statistically maybe the most dominant CBB team ever to not win a title. belichick has gotten dog-walked all three games he's played against teams with a pulse and shown either no inclination or no ability (or both) to fix anything.

now, HD has not been very good at self-scouting, so he didn't actually fix the underlying problems with the team and his management of it, so the season ended up disappointing. but he knew enough and cared enough to make some difference and get better after that embarrassment.

Ooooof. That’s gonna leave a mark.
Belichick won’t see it and if he does, he won’t care.

Why?
1) getting paid $10 million a year and they owe me at least 2 more years at $10 million per.
2) having sex with a 24 year-old thanks to Viagra and my millions $$$$.

Not sure I'd say they looked like they belonged on the same floor. The second game they were outscored by 20 points in the last 15 minutes. The third game they were down 20 with 15 minutes to go - and Duke was without Flagg.

Hopefully HD will prove to be the correct person to lead UNC, but I seriously doubt it.
