Really?!? All of my friends are completely out and dislike pretty much everything about him. Honestly, what’s to like?
1. He’s aloof and arrogant
2. he hired his buddy for 1.5 mil as Gm, who’s a clown
3. he hired freddie kitchens at OC, who has admitted he didn’t even interview for the job and wasn’t qualified for it. Not to mention 2-4 completely other unqualified people on staff
4. We’ve been Awful, objectively the 2nd worst p4 team and the worst one fired their coach already
5. We’ve already had a coach suspended for not following rules

All this in the setting that he’s making 10 million, seemingly doesn’t understand college football, is 73 years old and has a gf 49 years his junior. He was a great coach but that point in time seems like a long time ago given his complete evaluation failure in both the pros and college the last 5 years. I have no idea why anyone is still on board
I still have one UNC friend that follows the team somewhat closely that won’t give in lol. He wants at least 2 or 3 full seasons no matter how bad it gets.

Everyone else is just as fed up as people on the message boards. Well either that or just completely checked out, which is a feeling any long-time UNC football fan can relate to.

Well we sold more season tickets at higher prices than ever so they liked him once. Clearly he has lost support, and I understand that. After reading Ollie bs I wanted him out that second. Just surprised people willing to gulp WRAL and Nando BS.
Selling more tickets at higher prices and then delivering a full mess might just contribute to the amount of blowback we’re seeing,

Not allowed to post premium content here, but AJ talks about it in his thread AJ: A Statement, 25 Words, Alignment and...?

I've yet to see anyone credible (IC/247 staff) say that he skipped out of town while anything with the program was happening, and I've read the threads. If you find anyone credible saying what you're saying then please link.
OK, I think I found the reference, where AJ says on page 4 that Bill was at practice "during the week" and confirmed he flew on Thursday. That doesn't really answer whether he left practice early on Thursday as has been alleged. I've yet to see any one refute that claim.

But even if we were to give Bill the benefit of the doubt on staying through practice, and even if we were to discount the claim that staff members had trouble getting in touch with him during the bye week, there is still the wildly inappropriate issue of a coach taking a vacation with his girlfriend for Thurs-Sun during the middle of an extremely unsuccessful season.

Even if there were a few hours spent recruiting on a low-likelihood prospect(s), that is not an appropriate use of time for a North Carolina football coach during the season. For all of Mack's faults, he never took vacations on bye weeks. He was busting his ass recruiting all the time.

I agree, if it was a vacation, as you say. How do you know Mack never took a Saturday and Sunday off during a season?

Ragarding AJ’s post, I’m pretty sure the “he was at practice during the week” implies he was at all the practices; i.e., didn’t miss any of them.

In football, or in general?
Football. I've heard of players doing this. I think Tony Romo took a vacation to Cabo during a bye week before the playoffs. But I've never heard of a football coach taking a 4-day vacation during the season. It shows a complete lack of seriousness and tone deafness.

I've never heard of ANY coach doing this.
Yea. I am sure if a coach had decided to take a one-day vacation in the middle of a season it would have been major news. So clearly no coach has every detoured from a recruiting trip for a day vacation. Yep. This is a first.

Oops. Now it's 4 days. Gotcha. Yep ic had story he was on recruiting trip.

I can't speak to every coach since the history of time. I have never heard of it.

From a quick perusal of other team's message boards, fans of every other program are roasting Bill for it and saying they are glad their coach would never do something like that.

4 day vacation? I thought it was flying out Thursday evening and back Sunday, with some of that time recruiting.

I don’t really follow football nearly as much as basketball, so I wouldn’t know. I do know that Roy has taken vacations in season before.

The same fans that said our basketball program got away with decades of cheating?

You know a lot of coaches who took their Sugababies on “recruiting trips” to luxury seasonal destinations? In the midst of an insanely disappointing season—in which HBO and another network pulled the plug on shows focusing on said coach at a university—and in which all sports media was hyper-focused on said coach’s first season at said university?

It would maybe be defensible and you could buy it if he wasn’t
a)photographed with Jordon doing leisure activities and
b) we came out the least prepared i’ve maybe ever seen a team and got our ass handed to us in the 1st quarter

I don’t think Auburn or Oregon fans gave a rats ass about the paper class issue. But this story has made it around the college football world and teams that never have any interest in UNC at all are roasting Bill over this.

Pretty sure most fan bases were saying that about the basketball program, including Auburn and Oregon. I am not shocked that other fan bases are roasting Belichick and UNC right now.
