The play of the game was the fake Dook field goal. Raise your hand if you thought Dook was going to run the fake? I sure did.
On Dook's previous offensive possession, Diaz went for it on fourth down instead of letting the kicker try a 44-yard field goal...I figured Diaz did not fully trust the kicker from that distance. Why would you not just kick the field goal to take the lead? Then on the fake FG, it also would have a 44-yarder.
Keep in mind that the Dook kicker missed that earlier field goal attempt in the first half from 46 yards out, which was wiped away because UNC stupidly roughed the kicker.
On the fake field goal, why in the world did the UNC coaches have the players crash down to block the kick instead of playing the fake? Seems pretty simple to figure out. Don't risk another roughing the kicker penalty and defend against the trick play. Maybe it was not so obvious but felt before the fake that there was a really good chance it was coming.
State is going to obliterate the Heels next week....
