I had never really decided not to. Honestly didnt know if I would. I just didnt find anything more compelling really. I saw about what I expected. Overall poor execution, bad scheme ill fitted to the opponent, and a lack of discipline that manifests as penalties.
Why look at just the past 5 games? Look at all the games he played. Offense scored 7, 9, 18, 16, 27, 20, 12, 25, 10 points with Lopez against P4 teams. The 7 against TCU and 10 against MooU were basically in the first half before he got injured. The offense simply struggled to score 20 points with him at QB, even in just the last five games. Against average to weak defenses. I get it that Gio is not the only problem but Lopez is severely limited in what he can do. He is not a running threat at all, just look at his yards per carry. Is not a real threat to throw deep. For sure he did a much better job of taking care of the football and give him credit for that, but it felt every game was going to be a struggle to win with Lopez as the QB. Letting Johnson or Newkirk have a chance to see what they could have done would have made sense.
Even if that was what I expected, I still think it would have fucking sucked just as bad. Just a brutal beatdown.
He isnt changing much of anything i dont expect. It isnt in his nature to accept that he doesn't know something or that he's made a mistake.
I really hope you're wrong, and if not, I hope the PTB have an honest conversation with him.
If you think Lopez is fine then you are the one who doesn't have a clue about football and evidently don't have winning as a priority. Does get tiresome when someone says someone else with a different view doesn't understand what they are talking about. Just had to fight fire with fire and stick up for Zoo_View.
I do as well. Ive wanted to be wrong about this hire from day 1.
I expected that we'd lose fairly handily and it still really sucked (until I turned it to the Iron Bowl at half).
He was not a great coach, but he hated our other in-state rivals with a passion.
I loved that about him.
I watched the last half of the Iron Bowl (recorded it). That ended up being a pretty good game.
