It goes well beyond Belichick, but I will say that it is very frustrating seeing freaking dook - dook! - winning an ACC football title while we haven't won a single one in 45 years. The last two NC teams to win an ACC football title are Wake Forest and dook. Which only emphasizes how pitiful we have been in football for so, so long, Sigh.

We've been a little unlucky that our best years coincided with a dynasty at full strength in FSU and, later, Clemson; whereas Wake and dook won theirs during down years for the conference.

But, yeah, it's depressing that I am nearing 50 and have no memory of a UNC Football conference championship.

Mack typically won 8 games, wasn’t a giant asshole, and didn’t get to stay as long as he liked.
Mack 2.0 didn’t typically win 8 games.

One season he won 9, two seasons 8, one season 7, and two seasons 6.

How many of those Mack 2.0 seasons ended in collapses?

It will be Belichick’s second season, so he’ll have had ample time to make for his delay in hiring staff initially.
The major problem is that he has the staff he originally hired. Those people are his choices and his staff.

Is Freddie Kitchens still OC?

Is Mike Lombardi’s son still on staff?

Is Lombardi still on staff?

I was supportive of the BB hire.
I’m now squarely on the fence: Willing to give BB a chance; excited about the recruiting class and anticipated coaching additions and new portal players we’ll add; BUT
BB will need to produce next season - no concrete win total but we’ll know it when we see it.
I agree with most of what you wrote.

Disagree with the win total. 8 wins in the REGULAR Season and 4-4 or 5-3 in the ACC.

Squeaked out that 63-61 win over App State. And, Georgia State, 35-28, after trailing 28-21. 27-24 against a 5-7 Miami. 38-35 v. Duke. 31-28 against a 3-7 UVA. 36-34 v. Wake.
That team was skating on thin ice for sure, but that really was the season to cash in on an easy schedule.

9-1 and up 17-0 at home against the corpse of GT with an interim head coach. Next thing you know you blink and we’re finishing up at 9-5 lol. Few coaches could pull that off. A real Mack Brown special

I have said before and will say again...if people are serious about "he has to win 8 next year or hes done", then we may as well go ahead and fire him. There is no way we see 8 wins or anything close to it next year. 6 would be a miracle.
I think you’re right. That’s why I maintain BB can survive if the team plays better; we win some of the right games; and the eye test says the future looks bright with all the true freshman.

Why isn't the influence of $ and most importantly the influence of BB not able to overcome Knotts hated if there is really such a thing? What exactly are we paying BB and Co. top 10 money if they can't draw in kids?

They just had no. 12 class in country according to ESPN. No. 17 according to scout. That is after 4-8 and barrage of negative ink.

Knotts is longtime UNC hater. Did other schools not throw money around?
I feel sure SCAR spent money. I think Knotts was giving an example of what a whirlwind the week was for his player. His choice of the words “throwing money at” does give it a derogatory connotation, but UNC swooping in late is probably quite different than the player’s recruitment by SCAR or Michigan.

So as far as I can tell, the following players from our 2-deep have made it known they plan to enter the portal:

- Jake Johnson, TE
- Khalil Conley, CB
- Davion Gause, RB
- Miles McVay, OT
- Max Johnson, QB
- Khmori House, LB
- Chris Culliver, WR
- Javarius Green, WR

nah, the 9 win season wasn't even cool after we finished it 0-4 including dogshit losses to a poor GT team and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against the wolpfack.
And we followed up our ass whooping at the hands of Clemson in the ACC championship game with a one point loss in our bowl game against Oregon. That season broke me as a Carolina football fan.
