Is it a regional thing? My eldest is 19; my wife's kids are 18 and twins are 15. I have not heard 6/7 a single time.

it's been a thing for kids for about a month (i'd say it's more a gen alpha trend than gen z), it's really only just started spilling outside of places like classrooms. teachers have been hearing it incessantly for the last month, though

Um, what does it mean?

As an aside, “6/7” has been banned at my kids’ school. It gets that overused. I can’t think of another non-derogatory slang term that has been banned by a school.
What's the punishment if a kid says it?

Nah, it's national, but your kids are a little old to use it. It's mostly middle school and upper elementary.

What the hell does it mean?
This may be the most definitive explanation (and there really is no definitive explanation) I have seen:

Well, my twins are in 6th grade but they are autistic and I don't know how much they interact with other kids. One of my boys has very little interaction. The other, I"m not sure about.

They were handing this out free in Lawrence on Mass St (our Franklin) and I probably should have grabbed one just for the hell of it but didn’t because of the stupidity of the whole thing.

What the fuck would you do with it, once having grabbed it?

Huh, well, I guess they would be in a place to be exposed to it.

I know from talking to teacher friends here and seeing younger kids at my youngest kid's sports events that it's huge among the middle schoolers here.

41 is also popular, but not nearly at the level of 6 7.

Hubert is having a brutal recruiting cycle

If he ends up going to State, then I think it can be chalked up as a recruiting miss. But if he goes to one of the other schools listed, not so much. It’s very likely that he just doesn’t want to go to school so close to home.

A lot of times when we don’t land a recruit who lives in UNC’s backyard, a lot of folks freak out and think something must be really wrong with recruiting. But a lot of kids (most?) don’t want to go to school so close to home. They want to spread their wings a little bit, get away from home, create some space between themselves and their parents, and create some distance from what they’ve always known. I think it’s more common for kids who are going off to college to want that than it is for them to want to stay as close as home as possible.
