I’m also very interested in the behind the scenes logistics when it comes to how recruiting works these days. I don’t think the average fan will ever get a clear picture of those details though. There’s no reason for a program to lift up the hood to that degree and show exactly how they engage with recruits and agents, what the total NIL $ pot number looks like, etc.

IC has consistently said that the message from the people calling the shots is “no excuses this year”. It’s not an exact science obviously, but that + other reporting data points (Matt Norlander listing us as having a top ten NIL budget for example) leads me to believe that Hubert has enough control over the operations to the point that it wouldn’t be a viable excuse if we struggle this season.

E: to clarify, I don’t think it’s fair to pin whatever is happening with Luka’s eligibility on Hubert, at least based on what we know so far. I just don’t think that it would be a get out of jail free card for Hubert if push comes to shove and he isn’t able to play this season.

Don't overcomplicate this with your bullshit. Someone has to evaluate the worth of the player to the program and the overall financial impact of players in the program in allocating funds. You can use any fucking term for that you want. If you don't know, just say so.

But none of that make sense from an eligibility point of view. Unless they are claiming that he is not a HS graduate. Who cares what classes transferred. It is not as though he will be graduating from UNC. That stuff could get ironed out later. It shouldn’t affect eligibility.

There is something in his transcript that obviously matters to someone at UNC and since he was admitted (and UNC felt comfortable submitting his documentation to the NCAA for initial eligibility clearance), what else related to his transcript could there be other than how his credits are transferring?

There's a lot that's unknown here, but if it's related to his transcript it could only be so many different things. And given that he's been admitted to the school, there are few options left other than transferring credits (unless we're at something crazy like a forged transcript).

But that shouldn’t affect eligibility.

Perhaps it is a situation where certain paperwork was submitted to the NCAA and now the school has reason to doubt the accuracy of that paperwork. That is the only thing that would/should affect eligibility. Whether certain classes transfer should be irrelevant to NCAA eligibility.

I'm with Snoop Rob...somebody somewhere is waiting on a syllabus...I also think he'll play it will just take a resolution to this issue first.
 
I don't mind how long this is taking, because I assume the issue will be resolved in the next couple of weeks. First time for anything can be chalked up to "a learning experience to make sure that everything is done correctly." It cannot, however, take this long moving forward. We have a pipeline in place right now for foreign players to come to UNC. For future foreign recruits/signees, a clearer/faster process will need to be put into place, or that pipeline will close.
 
Should Luka be shopping around for another gig right now?

If I’m Luka, I would confront the powers that be at UNC (who are holding up his eligibility) and find out what the chances are of being declared ineligible to play at Carolina. If there is even an inkling of a chance I may be declared ineligible, I would immediately start looking at my options elsewhere. Even if “elsewhere” included another pro gig back in Europe or wherever.

If this is cleared up by the Central Arkansas game the rest of the world won't really know, or if they do, will forget pretty quickly. Of course, if there is actually some doubt then Bogavac won't ever forget. If he is denied from playing then I do suspect that will be an international snakebite and probably even an issue in the minds of anyone who has already played some professional minutes.

Not calling you out in particular but curious why, with the portal chaos and last season as an example of the chaos it has created, anyone can look at a schedule and have any sort of real insight on how easy or difficult it will be. There might be people who can keep up with the roster deletions and additions but I'm more that skeptical that they can do that And predict how they are going to fit together. How many teams would they have to even moderately misjudge to be fairly off in their predictions?

Conference or nonconference? The ACC has been weak lately and the nonconference schedule has some straight up cupcakes...more than usual.
 
With regard to our OOC schedule this upcoming season, it appears we are playing three teams ranked in the preseason top-25. Obviously, it’s possible some of those teams drop out of the top-25 and possible that other teams we play end up in the top-25. But it made me wonder how many top-25 teams we’ve played in our OOC schedule over the past 10 years. Here it is (this is based on ranking at the time the game was played):
2025 - 5
2024 - 5
2023 - 3
2022 - 4
2021 - 2
2020 - 3
2019 - 4
2018 - 2
2017 - 3
2016 - 2

And the past couple years we had more OOC games vs. top-25 teams than usual. Going back further between Roy’s first year (2004) and 2015, this is what it looked like (we played no games vs. top-25 opponents in 2008!):
