The first poll is out. UNC and dook are the only ACC teams in it. Meanwhile, the SEC has 9. Tell me again why UNC is still in the ACC?

Duke, UNC ranked in top 10 in AP preseason college basketball poll :: WRALSportsFan.com
How many championships has the SEC won the past 30 years? When was their last? Over a decade ago? Polls aren't nearly as important to basketball as they are to football. Only the Big10 is more disappointing.

Now football, yeah I wish we were in the SEC for the women alone.

The SEC is now a better conference overall than the ACC. That's the point. The ACC expanded to get better in football. That didn't happen and now UNC and dook are the only schools of any significance in basketball. The ACC ended up screwing up the conference and now UNC is stuck in a dying conference.

I agree with the sentiment expressed in the first paragraph of this post, but the SEC has won the third most national championships of any conference in the past 30 years— after the ACC and the Big East— with 5. And Arkansas won the national championship right before that (making 6 national championships in the last 31 years).

If you’re counting teams that were in the ACC at the time they won the national championship, the ACC has 8 in the past 30 years (11 in the past 34). If you’re counting all teams that are presently in the ACC (including vacated championships), the ACC has 9 (12 in the past 34.)

In you’re counting teams that were in the Big East at the time they won the national championship (including vacated championships), the Big East has 9 in the past 30 years. If you’re counting all teams that are presently in the Big East, it has 8.

But yeah, the SEC hasn’t won one since 2012, whereas the ACC and Big East have each won several since then.

Debbie Yow nearly bankrupted the Athletic Dept. They needed cash...
this. maryland's AD was underwater. they didn't see anything coming, they got lucky.

the move was still wildly unpopular with their fanbase until just a few years ago when it really started to become crystal clear just how seriously the B1G and SEC were monopolizing college sports.

The quest for Football Fool's Gold screwed up the conference.

Rebounding looks like it is going to be an issue. Doesn't matter how good you are if you can't rebound. This is why fans kept saying they need a true big.

Also not hitting 3s and the defense against penetration still isn't any better than last season.
