UNC Women's Basketball 2025-26 Season | Heels will host

really rough offensive game at Virginia Tech, but managed to make just enough plays down the stretch to force OT and then win in the extra period. A key Q1 win for the team that puts them in the ACC's top 4 for the moment, and that also makes, I believe, the first season UNC has won multiple OT games in Banghart's tenure.

Reniya Kelly still being out is mildly troubling.

Heels had a rusty first quarter agains Va Tech but kicked into gear in the second quarter to take a 13-point lead into the break.

That half had to be close to a record for offensive fouls called, especially on ball screens.

Heels burst out to go up 18 … and then give up a 7-0 run (and counting)

Women getting it done! No doubt in anonymity on this board! Never have understood the disconnect between the men and women’s teams?
Banghart is a genuine winner! Her teams are going to build a championship team!

Heels scored 11 in the first quarter and have 74 over the remaining three quarters to hold Va Tech at arms length and then pull away.

UNC 85, Va Tech 68

Heels advance to face Louisville.

I do feel like she's been building a program up, probably a bit slower than some would like but it's headed in the right direction. She inherited a mess, this could be her best year yet.

Lady Tar Heels are a 4 seed but their 1 seed is UConn. They open with Western Illinois. Their 5 seed is Maryland.

Top 20 teams really have to find a way to get to a 3 seed or better in WCBB so you can avoid the 1 seed in the S16. Just don't think we have even a tiny chance vs UConn.

UConn would be our third game, Right ?
That is our penalty for losing a couple of games we should not have lost?
Winning two games at home would be cool

Yes, we would play them in the S16. Would really like to see us win the two games at home to get there. But I really do think UConn will thump us good.

Really hoping Banghart can get us over the hump and back to contending for top seeds; we've looked like a solid but low-upside program since she's been here.

We were unlikely to beat any of the 1-seed regardless and particularly unlikely to beat UConn. Let’s take two at home and use a game against the likely national champs to build toward 2027 …

We’re building slowly but steadily up, hopefully next year’s recruiting class vaults us into the top 10.

Banghart has done a good job building us back up - we were dreadful at the end of the Hatchell era - just not sure if she can get us over the hump
