I was curious how that compares with CBB. The NCAA site has games through Friday and we're at 1.73 A/TO as a team...which is good for 16th in the nation.1.8 assist to turnovers on the season with no PG
I get your disappointment, but cheer up bigs, HD has added some quality wins to his total this year. Now he's only 17 wins under .500.He's also a colossal douche which probably makes him an even better candidate to you.
Game recognizes game.
Yep. HD can shut a lot of us up by having the team play well, consistently, and string together wins against some good teams. I hope he does.Certainly a lot at stake over the next 5–6 weeks.
No. he is the CEO of the basketball program he should just use judgment with the things that come out of his mouth... not trying to be cool. What's he supposed to do? Lock himself in the film room and go dark? He can spare a few hours to watch the championship game.
This sounds like the people calling complaining about Caleb Williams having a good time at the Blackhawks game the other night.
Who said win at all costs? The idea that moving on from Hubert means we had to bring in a sleaze ball is weak.Nothing much to add here but to say this whole situation is sad. I tend to agree that it is time to move on from HD, but the win-at-all-costs mentality is so far divorced from what I grew up with Coach Smith, that I find it hard to reconcile with my fandom.
Our two bigs are excellent passers.I was curious how that compares with CBB. The NCAA site has games through Friday and we're at 1.73 A/TO as a team...which is good for 16th in the nation.
Seems like something we do really, really well, getting assists without turning the ball over much.

It's Hubert. He wasn't trying to be cool.No. he is the CEO of the basketball program he should just use judgment with the things that come out of his mouth... not trying to be cool.
Of course he's gonna watch the game and be with his family or do whatever the hell he wants to do.
Never said it meant that but look at the football hire.Who said win at all costs? The idea that moving on from Hubert means we had to bring in a sleaze ball is weak.
The idea that Hubert Davis is the only person who has the character for the program and that we just have to ride this roller coaster in order did not have some Pitino type stuff going on it's just ridiculous.
Hopefully Hubert can stay consistent and winning...but moving on from him doesn't mean going dirty and winning is important...look at the budget.
yeah, and if HD ended up being replaced by a Belichick-type, I'd have smoke for him, too.Never said it meant that but look at the football hire.
That smoke doesn't help anything.yeah, and if HD ended up being replaced by a Belichick-type, I'd have smoke for him, too.
No one talks about it but there are plenty of media willing to turn a firing of Hubert into a racial thing. Makes not one difference if that were factor at all . Then add in our BOT and chancellor. It could be messy. That smoke doesn't help anything.
If UNC jettisons a lifer with a 70% win percentage they need to get it right.
The current state of politics in the US virtually guarantees that will be a factor in this. I don't know how big and there's nothing to be done about it but it's silly to think there's not some percentage of the fan base influenced by race.No one talks about it but there are plenty of media willing to turn a firing of Hubert into a racial thing. We fired Withers and we can fire Hubert. The days of not firing someone because they are a minority are long since over -- especially in college basketball. No one talks about it but there are plenty of media willing to turn a firing of Hubert into a racial thing. Withers was an interim. Merit hardly matters. It's perception. And if the perception is inc fire a guy averaging 25 wins a year bc he was black and did not reach standard established by dean and roy it could hurt recruiting. We fired Withers and we can fire Hubert. The days of not firing someone because they are a minority are long since over -- especially in college basketball.
I return to the point that Hubert cannot get special bonus points because he is an alum, or a "lifer," or a nice guy, or because he knows the Carolina way. He needs to be judged on his merits. And like all firing decisions, there is no guaranty that the replacement will be better.
But the fact that the replacement involves some risk is not a reason to stand pat. Kentucky may do worse than Mark Pope with its next coach, but if he can't get the job done, it is going to take that risk.
The good thing for Hubert is he still has a chance to turn the ship around.
