When I first heard the story today, I had one of those gut-sinking feelings.

This is not going to end well, I think we've opened up a can of worms here and there's nobody making the decisions who can tell their ass from a hole in the ground, and billions of dollars in oil money at stake. I have a bad feeling about this.

I just got off a fight with my parents. About this.

Dad said it was about drugs. I tried to explain how we allow drugs across the border and supply Mexican cartels with weapons.

He wasn't having any of it.

No, it's about oil. And I've told you all about it! I've predicted the past three elections, the coup attempt, etc.

I'm so tired of this shit. And what this asshole has done to us and our families.

“At this point, taking the actual operation, Trump’s press conference, and Delcy Rodriguez’s press conference into consideration, it seems fairly certain (though of course, unconfirmed) that Maduro was given up by the remaining government apparatus in a back channel deal. They likely used the only card they had to play: only we can ensure stability; the alternative - a full regime change with oppo installed in power - would result in chaos and bloodshed that the US would then have to manage with troops on the ground. In exchange, they gave Trump two things: oil (for cash) and Maduro (for show). Plus ancillary players get some of what they wanted: Hegseth gets his macho moment and Rubio gets to strangle Cuba. But, anti imperialist chest beating aside, the remaining Ven gov’t now has to do Trump’s bidding with a massive Damocles sword over its head. Not that they mind: ideology has long been dead for them. Of course, in geopolitics everything can change on a dime. But that’s what it looks like to me as this long day turns to night, with MCM as the biggest loser among the notable players. And as always, those who will bear the biggest brunt are Venezuelans, in Ven and out. For them, the tragedy continues.”

You could just play your dad trumps press conference where he talks about oil more than any other topic.

It’s a good thing that Maduro has departed Caracas; he wrecked his country, stole elections, facilitated the drug trade, flooded the hemisphere with millions of refugees, and aligned his regime with enemies of the United States This is a bad day for Cuba, China, Russia, and Iran, which were in cahoots with Maduro and have reason to fear U.S. power. Their instrument for influence in the Western Hemisphere via Venezuela is out of power and out of luck, sitting in a U.S. jail cell.

There is no such thing as narco-terrorism. That's a bullshit catch-phrase and has been for decades. All section 122 does is basically stack the penalties for terrorism and drug dealing on top of each other.
It exists, but not as Trump 2.0 has defined it. The proceeds of selling the drugs have to support a terrorist group. We have no evidence of terrorism, although we do with communism. Also, the drugs were being sold to Europe, not the US. America first!

it’s also a bad day for the rule of law.
