WH Correspondent’s Dinner - Trump evacuated, shooter in lobby

Pretty sure the Drudge homepage tailors links to specific users. You won't get the same landing page as calla.
So did they throw Southern Living in there b/c he's from the South? And the trio of local rags based on more specific location info? What about Axioms? I assumed that was a typo for Axios, esp. when I looked up Axioms and found that it's "an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal of mathematics, mathematical logic and mathematical physics, published monthly online by MDPI."

But anyway, he obviously pulled this list off a news feed. It is exactly the random collection of stuff that news feeds provide by default.
I didn’t know that about the Drudge Report; but, I know little about the Drudge Report.

I haven’t visited that site in 10+ years.

They really are some of the most thin-skinned snowflakes alive. Can't handle any criticism or joke thrown their way. A Kennedy or Reagan or Clinton or Obama would have either laughed it off or made a joke about it themselves. Trump and his people throw tantrums and demand that people be fired and whole networks be taken over so they don't have to hear any criticism or jokes made at their expense. It would actually be pretty pitiful were it not for the fact that they have been successful in buying and taking over and gutting once-prestigious news organizations and trying to suppress freedom of speech and the press. But of course they all love Gutfeld and Jesse Watters.

Here are some "fact-based" articles from the sources you apparently won't ignore, laying out some of the issues with Trump's admin so far. I'm sure there are plenty more but many of the sources you claim to read require subscriptions that I don't have. Bottom line: the idea that very little criticism of the damage the Trump admin is doing is "fact-based" is absurd.

Rather than trying to data mine articles to support a point I'm not even making, why don't you try to engage in the actual point I am discussing. Did you get a 200 on your SAT verbal score? It is like you have literally no reading comprehension whatsoever.

You have raised three points as to what the Hilton possibly could have done, one of which had nothing to do with the Hilton and zero of which would have made a rat's ass difference in the outcome last night.

There are legitimate discussions to be had about whether such events should be held at public hotels, whether the right security procedures were in place, and whether extra security should be provided for the press when they are near potential assassination targets. But none of that deals with what could have been done by the hotel to prevent the attempt last night.

You've had seven attempts to identify something and you have yet to make a cogent argument in support of your position -- instead you keep citing articles and raising irrelevant and inapposite points.
Ok, how did this get to what thr Hilton could have done??? Nice moving of the goal posts, basically from Kenan to Wallace-Wade.

I noted several clear examples of things that SECURITY (SS, locals, and everyone in charge of that) could have and should have done.

This has been widely accepted as a security failure, other than by team Trump. Your lack of understanding or perhaps utter intransigence in order to be "right" here is pretty laughable. Since I don't really care how much of a fool you want to be on this, please carry on so you can feel better about yourself (I guess).

Oh, and it was a 740 way back in 1993.

Only after his debate. You radically denied it for years. Only when caught did the left stab him in the back.

You don’t have to buy media outlets when you have them committing journalistic malpractice to influence elections. CBS, nbc, abc, cnn, msnbc, nyt, Wapo, latimes, pbs, npr, sf chronicle, Detroit free press Chicago tribune, the hill, New Yorker, guardian, the Atlantic. Jesus Christ, the left had a monopoly of media protection.

Love this campaign your side is on trying to claim he is senile. Did that come down from carville? Just makes you look more foolish. Nobody except for this board and the far left nuts running your party believe that. Congrats, you line up with aoc, Warren, crocket, Omar, jaypal, and………Marjorie green. How does it feel to have to side with her. Remember how y’all loved to talk about how crazy she was? Turns out you were right. She would fit right in on the zzl.
I agree that “senile” is not the correct term for Trumps mental issues. He’s just an old guy now that his age is starting to amplify the mental issues he’s always had such as how he uses social media (for one example). I mean what other President would post the bs he does on a daily basis?

And please don’t post about any crazies or radicals on the left w out acknowledging that the leaders of the left have not engaged in conspiracy theories anywhere close to what the right promotes. For example, Obama wasn’t born in the US and our elections are rigged.

You don’t believe those last two conspiracies do you?

The idea that all of those competing news publications would all be running "election interference" in the same way -- which is Calla's claim (note that reporting facts is not interference but whatever -- is legit bonkers.

I need to know what KKKaroline Leavitt knew in her call for violence right before the dinner started. I'm calling for her immediate dismissal.

I have been asking you repeatedly things the hotel could/should have done differently. You have now responded by creating an amorphous, all-caps concept called "SECURITY" -- as if there is a single entity in charge of security at an event like this.

The secret service's job is to take care of the President (and others in the line of succession). Not the press and not MAGA firemen in the crowd. They protect the President. A lot of the whining I have seen from the media types about security has concerned matters related to the press only, not the President.

And just because there may be a security gap -- say failing to scan an actual bar code ticket to get into the hotel, or failing to secure all back entrances -- does not mean those security gaps had anything to do with the particular issue in this case. In law, you have both negligence and causation. You've done a lot to argue the negligence part but have done nothing to address the causation part of this.

The President is a guest at the WHCD. Thus, the SS is not going to protect the entire event. It is going to make sure there are layers of security to protect the President. Those layers worked perfectly in this case. The perp got tackled right away and no one was hurt. That is how security is supposed to work.

Again, I have said from the very beginning that it is appropriate to do a thorough investigation of the incident and make appropriate security protocol changes in the future, if necessary. But if some crazy person wants to travel the country by train and smuggle guns into a hotel by suitcase and then run at breakneck speed through security, there is precious little a hotel can do to stop that.
